Printer not working?

I have a Canon ip4200 that is connected via USB.

It is now giving me a vague error message - Operator Error, press resume button, if that doesn't work, turn machine off and on again.

Of course, that doesn't help.

Trying to print a test page or even send the head cleaning command gives the same error, so I assume it's a communication problem.

I switched cables with my other printer - no change. I reloaded the driver - no change.

Any other suggestions?

Probably not the answer you want but , get a new printer . Get a good one not a cannon . Been there done that 450 waste . got an HP , waste . Bought me a brother . Best printer I ever had and it cost about 70 bucks . Prints great color pics which my canon and hp could not do .

these kinds of problems that can't be fixed usually indicate the printer is dead or dieing, they are cheaply made and the capacitors usually blow/rupture after a year or 2 of use.

this can sometimes be bypassed if you 'reset' the printer.

    1) Turn the power off to your IP4200. Press and hold the "Resume/Cancel" button. Press and hold the "Power" button.

2 Release the "Resume/Cancel" button. Press and release the "Resume/Cancel" button twice. Release the "Power" button after the second time.

3 Press and release the "Resume/Cancel" button three times in quick succession. Press and release the "Power" button to force the system reset.

it's a little hard to follow, printers always have a odd reset button combination/procedure.
