Fatigue and Irritability Caused by Vicodin?
I've been taking Vicodin for about a week now for neck pain, and ever since I started taking it, I've had fatigue and irritability all the time. I mean even 12 hours after I've taken Vicodin, I will still have these symptoms. I thought that these symptoms were caused by my vitamin B deficiency, because I've been forgetting to take it, but for the past week, I've been taking it religiously twice a day (normally I take it once a day) I also have mental fogginess. I don't know what it causing this, do you think it could still be vitamin B? I only forgot to take Vitamin B for about a week. I'm going to go to the doctors monday morning to get a better pain killer because the Vicodin sucks *** at killing pain. Another thought, could all this be because I'm always in pain or uncomfortable because my neck?

I think you know the answer to your question. Yeah, the Vicodin can make you foggy but a lot of people get the idea that narcotics put you to sleep. Its actually the opposite. You tend to nod, being halfway, not really asleep but not quite awake. That just makes you more tired and foggy which ends up with you feeling grouchy all the time. Dont feel like its just you. Its a lot of people and it is the same with all opiate pain drugs.I have been on all of them. They gave me Dilaudid once and I was wide awake for two solid weeks. I thought I was going to blow out a blood vessel in my brain. The only pain drug that doesnt seem to do that is Methadone and doctors are afraid of it because of the.junkie stigma.
Whether you want to try another opiate analgesic or not, ask your doc for an Rx for a drug called Voltaren Gel. Its a unique anti inflammatory that you just rub on like BenGay but it doesnt stink and it works without the stomach upset the pill can give you and it wont keep you up .Worse comes to worse you can try 25-50mg of generic benedryl (diphenhydramine) or a couple tablets of melatonin at bedtime to try and work around the nod effect. Good luck

Fatigue often triggers off further problems such as headaches, migraines, dizziness, lightheadedness, shakiness and nausea.
To combat fatigue perhaps the energy vitamin B12 can help or a vitamin B complex. Coenzyme Q10 can also help to boost your energy level as in a web search for "coenzyme q10 for energy". The super food Spirulina is another good energy booster.
One of the most common fatigue causes is anxiety which is a state of fear of real or imagined danger, which is manifested as increased heart rate, trembling, panic, weakness, extreme fatigue and stomach or intestinal discomfort.
Besides anxiety there are many other common fatigue causes such as insufficient sleep, too much sleep, under eating, thyroid problems or other illnesses (such as anemia, mononucleosis, CFS, glandular fever and many others), side effects from medication, dehydration, overexertion, an unhealthy diet and other causes as discussed in a web search for "common fatigue causes".

IT'S THE VICODEN!!!! I can't say it strong enough. I have to take pain meds for kidney stones and let me tell you I got so cranky every single time I took the Vicoden I was miserable to be around. No other pain medications did that to me like that one did! Haha. The fatigue could very well be a part of that but also could be the lack of B Vitamin. Good luck! Oh and try Ibuprophen instead. You should see the difference right away in mood.
