What do I need to do to best take care of my micro USB charging cables?

It used to be I could use a cable for a long time to charge my phone and would never have any issues with it. Now it seems like it'll do well for a while and then just stop. It'll charge, but it takes so much longer and leaves me virtually unable to use my phone while it charges. What should I do for future cables to best ensure that that doesn't happen?

Cables are simply conductive metal (material that "transfers" electricity) wrapped in bendable plastic.

But the thing is... they aren't really meant to be bent. Bending them causes them to weaken and often break inside of the outer part of the cord. To take care of them simply avoid bending them at any sharp angle. Don't tightly wrap the cord around it's self. (if you have to wrap it up do it in a nice big circular form.)

But honestly cables are pretty resilient and it sounds to me that you are actually having a probably with your phones battery. You can test my hypothesis by getting a new charger and see if the speed differs at all.

With eternal batteries (I am assuming yours is lithium which is the most common now days) they only have a certain amounts of charges and recharges. (sure it is normally in the thousands.. but still) If you use the device enough eventually your battery will seem to charge slower / not hold the charge as well. Not too much of a bigy, just replace the battery. :)
