I've heard October is better than in the summer for Disney World, answers?

My daughter is in band, color guard to be exact, and her fall break is in October. I have terminal cancer, no sympathy as a lot of folks are in same bunch, but her fall break is in October. We bought tickets to DisneyWorld years ago and want to use them before it's too late. She wants to go in the summer but I keep hearing it's best to wait for her fall break in October. I keep hearing the parks are less crowded, the lines are less, the hotels better, etc. if you go in October. I need to hear from experience...is this true? I hear it's easier to get around, especially since I will be in a wheelchair, I will cope with my issues so please don't answer based on that, but based on the time of year, is it better to go in October? We are doing everything we can to raise money to go, yard sales, etc. so we will be able to eat on site if it's better...I have tons of guide books but I just want the low down from experienced people. Do you guys think October is the better bet or should be brave the months of July or August?

October is one of the best times to go. It is cooler and more comfortable, but still warm enough for pools and water parks. But it is MUCH less crowded then, and the hotels are much cheaper as well. Disney also usually offers some great promotions that time of year, such as free dining.

We never go in the summer - it is too hot, humid, crowded, busy, and expensive. You don't get to see or do as much, and you're often miserable in the meantime.

Yes. It's Cooler, not as Mobbed, & a little bit Slower paced than mid-Summer. -Definitely a better Time ( for ANY-One) to Go. :)

October through January is my favorite time to go. October has cooler weather, shorter lines, better prices.. I have only been there once during the busy summer months, and it was a very different experience. Your comfort level is way lower because of the heat and the crowds. Everything is just less pleasant.

So, like the others I would vote for October.

Definitely go in October if you have that option. Yes, the lines are shorter and the heat isn't overwhelming like it is in summer. And since cost is a consideration you'll also save money on the hotel, and airfare if you're flying.

i wonder why she wants to go in the summer.

its very very very hot, very very very humid, rains nearly ever afternoon, and its very crowded.

october is a great time to go.

its much less hot, rains much less, and its not too crowded at all.

i would definitely recommend that you go in october vs the summer.
