  • I need help with a possible electrical issue with my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.?

I bought my Jeep in 2013 at a great price. I had it inspected and the guy actually told me that if I didn't end up buying it to let him know 'cause he would! He also made my day when he said "You know it's got a new motor, right?" The dealer I bought it from wasn't actually a used car dealer but sold hauling equipment such as flat beds and horse trailers and had taken the Jeep as a trade so I ended up with a great deal. I've only ever had one issue with it from day one. It doesn't affect it as far as driving or handling but it's just annoying as can be. I always buy the Haynes manual for any car as soon as I get it but I can't find the issue in it. My husband is a pretty good shatetree mechanic and I have no doubt he could fix the problem...if we knew what it was so I am really hoping someone out there has some ideas.

Here goes: To play the stereo or run the air conditioner or get the interior lights to work...any of the interior lights including the dash assembly or gear indicators...basically anything electronic/electric...the headlights have to be turned on! It's the craziest thing...I have to at least have the parking lights on. As I said, it doesn't affect the driving but I feel silly running around with my lights on all the time. I'm wondering if it could have something to do with when the new motor was installed. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • My family didn't call me on Thanksgiving! What should I do?

I have a terminal illness and am now housebound. I've lost down to 84 pounds and am too weak to drive. My dad lives several hours away but he always calls me on holidays. My two brothers are hit and miss so that's par for the course but my father didn't call and hasn't called. I'm confused and I know I could call but I'm wondering what I'll confront. Advice?

  • Will Disney World pick up resort guests at Sanford?

I know Disney provides pick-up and shuttle service to the park/hotels for Disney resort guests at Orlando International Airport but do they provide the same service if you are flying in to Sanford International?

  • I need some advice about rides at DisneyWorld.?

I asked this before a while back but I don't think, based on the answers I got, that I provided enough detail. I have had 16 spine surgeries. My surgeon told me I had to wait five years before I could ride any "big" rides and when we go to DW next fall it will have been six years since the last big surgery. I have steel rods in my back all the way up into my neck and to the small of my back. I know all the rides say not to ride if you have back issues but this is a lifelong dream to go and I am so I need honest advice. These are the issues I need to avoid or prepare for. Speed is not an issue...hard jolts, bumps are and anything that jerks the neck hard. Frankly, I am in pain pretty much 24/7 so that's not so much a concern as I know it's gonna hurt, but the really hard jolts and the neck jerks are what I can't handle. So for the big, thrill rides, Exp. Everest for example...how rough are they and which ones do I definitely need to avoid? Thanks for the help! I need lots of opinions so I am going to extend this one as long as I can. And yes, I know the warnings but again, this trip is kind of a last wish kind of thing so it's going to happen.

  • What should I use to line an old steamer trunk for food storage?

I have an old antique steamer trunk, the kind with the domed top, that was left to rot and ruin for many years. It has no value due to the condition but I wanted it to use as a potato box since it would be cool and dry. Long story short, I cleaned the crud out of it inside and out and then used a good paint to both seal all the holes and make it match my house. Now I am ready to start using it but I need to line it. I know that the usual newspaper wouldn't be a good choice since it invites bugs much as brown grocery sacks do. I don't want to use anything with glue since that invites more of the blasted sugar ants we get invades with every single summer so that rules out wallpaper or even contact paper. I can't think of any other options so I need ideas. What could I use that won't bring any pests in to drive us crazy or ruin what is stored inside?

  • 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee air conditioner issues.?

We have been having issues with our Jeep overheating when sitting still...we are working on that...but now we are having a new problem we really want to get as many opinions on as possible. When sitting still, coming to a stop or at a drive thru, waiting to turn, etc., any time we come to a stop, the air starts blowing hot. When the Jeep is moving the air is super cold but when we stop it almost instantly turns hot. Any ideas? I've asked before but we always get just one answer and it is never the right one. Please, anyone, any opinion, we need some ideas. Thanks so much in advance for all the help we hope to get!

  • My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee keeps overheating...complicated...Help!?

When we got the Jeep last October, my husband had to put new brakes on, calipers and all. While he was bleeding the brakes, he was doing something else when bam, the radiator blew. The fan wasn't working. So, him being a pretty good home mechanic, he put on a new fan and radiator. He also went ahead and put on a new coolant sensor. The rest of the system looked good so we thought the problem was solved. A few days later, I had outpatient surgery and my best friend was driving me home. We went through a drive thru on the way home and we were sitting there when she asks me why the car was smoking. I had her pull it over into a parking spot immediately and popped the hood. The thing had overheated! A guardian angel stopped and let me know the fan wasn't working so just let it cool, replenished coolant, and it should be fine to get it home, an hour away. So turns out the fan wasn't kicking on. We were trying to figure out how to fix the relay but in the meantime we just rigged the fan to the battery with a toggle inside to flip on when sitting. But now, it starts getting hot really fast and flipping the fan on makes no difference. It hasn't overheated but gets super close and too fast to risk driving in heavy traffic on hot days. The motor only has 33K on it, total of 162K total. 6 cyl. The newest thing is now the air conditioner starts blowing hot air when I bring the Jeep to a stop, cold when moving. We had it checked by mechanic before buying + passed! Help!

  • Is there a big difference in staying at a Disney hotel rather than an off site one?

Price wise, is there a big difference in staying off site? We have been told that the difference is negligible when you factor in the benefits. We will have three teenagers and three adults. Any ideas from those out there who have been?

  • I've heard October is better than in the summer for Disney World, answers?

My daughter is in band, color guard to be exact, and her fall break is in October. I have terminal cancer, no sympathy as a lot of folks are in same bunch, but her fall break is in October. We bought tickets to DisneyWorld years ago and want to use them before it's too late. She wants to go in the summer but I keep hearing it's best to wait for her fall break in October. I keep hearing the parks are less crowded, the lines are less, the hotels better, etc. if you go in October. I need to hear from experience...is this true? I hear it's easier to get around, especially since I will be in a wheelchair, I will cope with my issues so please don't answer based on that, but based on the time of year, is it better to go in October? We are doing everything we can to raise money to go, yard sales, etc. so we will be able to eat on site if it's better...I have tons of guide books but I just want the low down from experienced people. Do you guys think October is the better bet or should be brave the months of July or August?

  • Need truthful advice about Disney World with back/neck issues.?

I apologize for the amount of detail needed but I hope my years of YA karma will give me a great result. The situation: I have had fifteen, yeah, fifteen, spinal surgeries. I have steel rods in my back and a pump that delivers meds continuously for pain. I bought Disney tickets back when I was in better mobility and we are going to use them come hell or high water. I know conventional wisdom tells me to run for the hills when it comes to amusement parks but I have been informed I am terminal and this is the only wish I have...to go to Disney with my sixteen year old daughter so I am going no matter what. What I need to know is what rides are the most rough. I went to an amusement park called Holiday World and rode a traditional coaster with horrible results but it was because there was no neck support...it was an open cart wooden coaster and not the kind with any upper body support. I rode several other ones with good results. I have all the guide books with the ratings on rough but don't know if I can trust them. I need to know what rides have hard jolts such as boats/carts/etc. bumping into other carts...we went to Sea World prior to my surgeries and I remember the Escape to Atlantis being fine until our boat hit the boat below us at the end. That kind of jolt is what kills me. I can handle speed, etc, just not hard jolts or especially bumpy rides. Can anyone help me with what to avoid at all costs at Disney World?

  • We bought our tickets to Disney World years ago but didn't go...are we out of luck?

I was told years ago that if we wanted to save money since Disney tickets were increasing price wise almost every year, we could buy our tickets when we had the money and go when we wanted since they wouldn't expire until we first used them. So the next year, we used our tax return, part of it anyway, and purchased the three tickets needed for our family. We bought park hopper plus tickets and planned to go the next year on that tax return money. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with cancer and have spent the last five years battling it. This will be the first summer I will be physically able to go so we are beginning to plan again but now I am really worried...I was trying to find out about this but keep seeing on here that tickets actually do expire and we may be out of luck. The tickets have never been used, never scanned, etc. and don't have dates on them. They are actually still in the plastic sleeve they arrived in years ago. Does anyone know the real answer here? Thanks to all who try to help.

  • How can I clean an old trunk?

I just received an old trunk and it is really dirty. It looks like one of those old pirate chests with the rounded top and metal strips with the pointed fancy looking ends. The base material is wood with the metal support braces and a metal latch. I am not interested in restoring it as it appears way too far gone to save it. It is in really rough shape with some holes in the sides and it is absolutely filthy. It was left in an abandoned building for years, then an old barn, and it has been sitting outside on a covered porch for about a year lately. I actually only want it to use as a potato box so I just need to get it clean but I am afraid that trying to spray it with water would deteriorate it even more. Do any of you guys have ideas on how to get it clean enough that it could sit in my kitchen...just so it doesn't look so nasty?

  • Is there anything I can substitute for miso paste?

I searched on here and found lots of answers but they seemed to be all about miso soup. I need miso paste and I can't get it in my rural area. I know I can order it online but I have some gorgeous salmon and really want to make Bobby Flay's miso and ginger marinated salmon. It calls for 1/4 cup of white miso paste and miren. I have a suitable miren substitute but don't know about the miso paste. My mother in law is Asian but isn't available right now. Help!

  • Anyone have some uses for roasted eggplant puree?

I have just acquired a 17 oz. jar of roasted eggplant puree. The ingredients listed are just roasted eggplant and sea salt. I love eggplant but usually slice it and fry or bake it. Is this good eaten as is? I don't want to waste this as it's a novelty item in my rural area. Any ideas?

  • Anyone have a really scary true short story to tell?

I am a total addict for anything scary...movies, places, books, etc., but I really love true first-hand short stories. You know, the kind you really want to tell people but don't want anyone to think you are crazy. So I would really love to hear as many of these quick frights as you've got to tell.

In the spirit of the question, I'll give you my own experience to get the ball rolling. I used to work in an old office building that was rumored to have once been the county morgue. It was right across the street from the hospital so it made sense. I often had to work really late, after everyone else had left. Every so often, someone else would be there in the office for a few hours so I was used to hearing another person in the back moving around, going to the bathroom, etc. There were two bathrooms, one right by my office and another down the hall around a corner toward the back offices. One night, pretty late, I kept hearing someone walk to the front fax machine, then to the printers, and then go to the bathroom. This was over and over and then mostly to the bathroom, flushing nearly every time. Finally I got concerned and went to find out who it was and if they were okay. I was walking down the hall, almost to the corner where I would turn and be in the hall by the bathroom in front of the row of back offices when I heard them leave the bathroom again and walk toward the back. I sped up to catch them before they got to their office and when I turned the corner, no one was there! I went through the entire building twice, it wasn't very big, and found no one and saw all the lights were off, monitors were all off, nothing. That wasn't the last time I worked late but it was the last time I was the only one there. That building was just demolished and it got me to thinking about that night.

    So come on, scare me!
