Dryer 4 wire to 3 wire conversion?

I need to switch my dryer from 4 wire to 3 wire in order to fit the outlet at my apartment. I tried searching past answers and couldn't find a good one regarding my question.

When I convert to 3 wire do I put neutral and ground on the same terminal? Or am I just confused and there will be no neutral wire just 2 hots and a ground?

OK, you're removing a four-wire pigtail and going to a three...the three has NO GROUND, just two hots and a neutral.

Identifying what's what: four-wire set is red/hot, black/hot, white/neutral, and green/ground. The three-wire pigtail is flat, no colors, but a noticeable left/center/right. The center conductor is the neutral, while the left and right are hots.

So connect the center wire's lug where the white wire was when removing the four-wire pigtail, then the remaining two hots to where the red and black wires were, done.

just leave the ground out dont twist them together wire the two hot and neutral if you can wire that ground to the water pipe behind the washer for a ground source..
