Should I take a stereo to a college dorm room?

I'm planning on taking a small stereo system to play music from my ipod and my vinyl records. Do you think it would be fine as long as I don't play it too loud?

Yes, you can. Obviously if your roommate doesn't want to listen to your music you will need to work something out for the times when you are both in the room. But there will be times when it's just you.

And freshman dorms tend to be loud. If you run screaming down the hall at 3:30 am, people will be angry. If you play your music at a reasonable volume in your room with the door shut, you'll fit right in.

I hope you have a great time in college. :)

    Travis,

You need to think about this. If you roommate has the same set up, can he play his the same time you play yours? If you have your own room, as in a single room, you can do that. But when you have a roommate, any noise like that, no matter how beautiful it is, can be very distracting for the person you share the room with.

You are expected to use a headphone when you listen to music like that.

    Best wishes
