Evening guest, wedding present issue?
I've been invited to the ceremony and evening reception of two friends' wedding. I know the couple fairly well and get on with them. In my invitation, I wasn't told of where they had registered but through a conversation with them a while ago and a conversation with the maid of honour, I now know where they have registered. Should I buy them a present? I'm not against doing so, I just don't know the etiquette.
Thanks in advance!
Decided I'm going to get one then - thank you all!!
They've asked for multiples of some things, glasses etc, there are 4/8 left on some so do I buy the remaining for or just one along with something else? - thanks again

Where the couple is registered is never put on a wedding invitation. That is for the bridal showers.
Do not bring a gift - bought and wrapped up. It is a pain to haul a bunch of gifts from the reception back home. Usually some family member has to do this
Get a card with cash or a gift card. There should be a Card Box to put it in to at the reception.

The bride and groom are never supposed to include the registry information in the invite. You're doing a favor to them by purchasing a gift so they shouldn't act like it's expected. The large majority of people will get a wedding gift anyway. If you can afford to get them something, even if it's just a small gift, it would be a thoughtful gesture.

Most people do give gifts for wedding.
Weddings are not an gift giving event.
If you want to give them an gift, then give them a gift.
A gift does not have to be on the registry.
It could be anything you want to give the couple.
If you know the couple well, you can always give them something you know they will love.

You're not obligated in any way to buy them a present.
