Honeywell thermostat system is turned off, fan is set to auto but keeps running as if it were on circulation. Shouldn't the fan stop?

    the fan will continuously run if the temperature is set too low on the thermostat and the actual temperature inside the house or building is higher than the reading on the thermostat

    The fan temp sensor comes on around 92*. If the house is 92 or more the sensor will trigger the fan to come on until things cool down. The sensor does not know the difference of a heat source from the furnace or a hot-hot-hot summer day. If you want, just shut off the circuit breaker.

  • it should but a stuck relay would keep it going, or the control switch in the on position.
