There are so many daft questions about dogs that I don't answer many questions. How many of you have opted out?

I look at the dog questions almost every day. Unfortunately most of the questions are from kids, idiots or trolls. Consequently I don't answer many questions.

I am perplexed by the answerers on the "top answerers list", some of them don't appear to answer questions. Julie and Marianne have earned their place on the list, however the others don't appear to answer questions. How have these people earned their place on the list of "top answerers"

Dorothy, several of the people on the top 10 list have left, but they still have the number of BA that they have, and for someone to move up on the list, they'd have to have at least one BA more than the person above them in order to move up on that list. I can only speak for two people on that list, or should I say three. *Pet Rocks* has left, and actually that WAS a Husband and Wife team, because two people used that account...Brent and his wife Chris. I know this for a fact because I've talked with Chris on the phone several times, and the last time I talked with her, she said they were not going to participate on Yahoo Answers anymore, besides the fact that Brent is very ill. (Cancer) Chetco left because she was grieving. When she left, her Husband had recently passed away. I know this because she emailed me. However, I did see her answer ONE question a couple of months ago, but I haven't seen her since. That other gal Aduial, or whatever her name is, has been gone for a very long time, at least she isn't using THAT account because there were several people who called her out and harassed her some. When it comes to her, I just have a gut feeling that she's still around, but answering under a different account. Of course, that's just speculation. Just for the record, since you're in the UK and I'm in the US, with all the changes on the new format, you might be seeing different people on the top 10 list than I am. I'm pretty sure that Memphis Bell was #1 in the UK, but I haven't seen her answer anything in a very long time either. Moondog is on the top 10 list in the US, but from what I've been told, she lives in Australia.

So, I'm not even sure on how this whole top 10 list works anymore at all, tbh.

Yes, you're right about one thing for sure.....many of the questions that are asked are quite stupid, and are asked by kids and trolls, IMO. There were trolls years ago when I joined, but things have got much worse over the years. I think it's because kids now days just sit in front of their computers, and don't have any real friends or go outside to play and get fresh air and exercise like I did when I was growing up. God knows I'm no youngster anymore, as I've announce my age many times on this site.

I was very hot and heavy in answering questions for a while. I only give my answer based on my experiences or from research. I never answer questions if I have no experience in the matter such as pregnant dogs or birthing dogs. I have never experienced either so I don't answer.

I have been shocked as well by some BA's. I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people choose BA's that tell them what they want to hear instead of fact.

I have also noticed that when I have to just give myself some time away from this for a couple of weeks, and I have lost the top contributor badge, I get far more BA's than I do with the badge. It's strange.

I also recently lost the top contributor badge but that doesn't bother me. I am here because I have worked at many day clinics and a couple emergency clinics. I have knowledge to share but do not attempt to answer any where I do not have the knowledge or experience. The questions lately have not afforded me the ability to answer so I read them and move. I also tend to ignore questions where the asker is inviting a confrontation on the answer.

I have also noticed that the BA often is what the asker wanted to hear and the advice which is/was most helpful often given a thumbs down and then ignored.

I agree about the daft questions, some just leave me shaking my head.

The top answerers list is of the people with the most BAs in the category. They could be from years ago, it's just that they have the most.

The supposed idea about Pets-answers to help out legitimate dog owners/ or about to be owners deal with general questions. it has gotten worse thru the years, and I have become quite picky about what I choose to answer!

Trolls, idiotic or FILTHY questions etc are ignored.

I am not in this for points! I simply wish to impart the information I have accumulated during the past 50 years of dog ownership!

I recently had to call my vet about an upcoming neuter on my 5 month Aussie pup. I have known him for 5 yrs now but he was astounded at what I had learned and the questions that I posed! ie: being an Aussie with unknown MDR1 status, I was most curious about the protocol they used...he questioned me in return and we both learned from the conversation. He confided that HE WAS APPALLED at some of the idiotic questions of late!

Agree with Julie... I am more selective than I used to be, but still find things that wind me up and turn me into a person I don't recognise sometimes :(

Dorothy, do you have a life? Or do you just live off your yahoo answers account pretending to be someone with a personality? No wonder no one picks your answer as the best one. does your desire to answer questions fill the deep void in your life for love? Or do you get that from your horses or dogs?

Amber, I know that you usually ask and answer questions anonymously. I also know that you are new to this site and have a very short fuse. You have fallen out with your parents because of this. Chill out and become more tolerant and patient, especially with your dogs and your BF.
