I don't know where I belong?

Background story: I moved to America when I was 6 from China. During my early childhood everything was fine and cool.

However, as I grew older(16 atm) the world began to change. I've realized all of the Asian stereotypes and the expectations that American society places on the Asian-Americans. To make matters worse, I have an accent that I can't seem to remove. I just don't feel like I belong here in America. However, at the same time because of how early I moved, my Chinese isn't all that great and the fact that I've been in American for over half my life now I don't know if I belong in China either. I just feel like an unwanted ghost. The only family I have is my mother. My other relatives are in China and I haven't seen or heard from them in 10 years so I don't really consider them family. I can't even remember their faces and names. I just feel so lost and hopeless. Help?

You need to know that there are way too many displaced feeling people due to the world's racism (like in your case: being made feel bad by the society stereotyping/intolerance/inconveniences). All minorities in the world, e.g. the so-called *generational* chinese ethnic minorities worldwide (so doubtful if China would accept them back), the roma/gypsy people in Europe and elsewhere, the Jews (classic victim example), the black people worldwide, the White people (the poor, not ones with power) in South Africa. They all understand the feelings.. we gave them ethnic names and races labels because we all succumb to racism. I hope one day the word races will be erased from human vocabulary altogether, no matter how unrealistic the dream is.

Hmmm... maybe you do not belong to either America or China. You are a product of both but if you feel that neither is home, maybe in the future, you should consider at least travelling/holidaying/studying abroad in a country that you feel good about. Who knows? You might find a home in there. As well, as the years go by and as you get older, you might find that you are becoming a lot more Chinese or a lot more American than you feel right now - it takes time for these things to settle and they come with age. It is normal to feel displaced... and it is good that you know that. =)

First of all try to reconnect with your family in China ,then try to adapt in your environment, make new friends, participate in community activities ,throw a party to socialize with neighbors and new friends, good luck .

You seem to have some identity issues. Maybe you should seek help from a psychologist.
