Do you believe in the Bible because of faith or evidence?

As a Latter-Day Saint-Christian, I constantly hear "The Book of Mormon isn't true because there's no physical evidence for the existence of the plates, the places in the book, the people, etc."

There are many physical evidences for the authenticity of the Book of Mormon do exist, but that isn't the point of the question.

If you need evidence for the Book of Mormon, would you believe in the Bible if the evidences for it didn't exist? Hypothetical question of course.

If you believe because, even if just partially because, of evidence, then your belief isn't from faith. If you don't need evidences for the Bible and just go on faith, why can you not use the same standard for the Book of Mormon? That would be a double standard.

Even though there are various evidences that its true, I don't need those evidences. I don't need evidence that the Bible is true. All it really takes is asking God.

Some people believe that neither the Bible nor the Book of Mormon are plausible. Some people believe the Bible is plausible, but not the Book of Mormon. Some people believe that both are plausible. Some people know the Bible to be true. Some people know both the Bible and the Book of Mormon to be true. In both cases it is not from a preponderance of physical evidence, but from a spiritual conviction. Speaking for myself, I am thrilled when physical evidence comes along that backs up my spiritual conviction. I am also thrilled when I can learn something new about the Book of Mormon by studying the culture of ancient Native Americans. For example, the Olmecs wrote their histories in stone. According to the Book of Mormon, when a group of Nephites got lost, they discovered a large stone covered in a language they did not understand.

But why claim to be Christian when you are so at odds with Chrsitianity and the bible?

Do Christians have to wear silly underwear to go to church?

Do Christians have to avoid various foods and drinks?

Do Christians have to prove they are fervent believers before they are allowed into church?

Do Christians have to ban anyone from entering church that is not totally committed?

Do Christians act as if their religion is some sort of secret society by banning non members from their churches?

Do Christians believe they will become gods?

Compare the bible and Christian beliefs with the Mormon book and beliefs and it is as plain as day that Mormons only claim to be Christian because they are afraid to stand up as an entirely separate religion!

Seen the advertisements with people doing everyday things with the line “and they are Mormon”? Seems the Mormon hierarchy recognize that they are seen not just as an extremist cult but also different to other people!

Mormonism is closer to scientology than Christianity!

Jesus quoted the Old Testament of the bible.

Jesus lived and proved Old Testament prophesies.

The New Testament is fulfillment of the Old Testament.

    Both.

I believe in the Bible because of a Supernatural encounter with God that goes beyond human reason or experience, it is not something that can be described or understood by Human means, all atheist psychological explanations for what I experienced has been heard and NOT even come even remotely close.

People Like NOUS who has answered? are totally in the dark, they do not understand nor have the ability, it is useless to try to convince them they are dead inside and filled with hate, Their explanatons are so filled with lies it staggers the imagination

I don't believe in it for either reason. I think it is the Jewish story, and things they wrote down. Great story but there are many other cultures that walked the earth, and still do.

I hear this kind of thing all the time -- do you believe in the bible? What does that even mean? The bible is not my god. I don't believe in it. I appreciate it; I take it seriously as a source of instruction and inspiration, but I only BELIEVE in God -- and the bible is not God. (And the BoM is also not God -- it's not even a useful book.)
