Christians, why do you fight against science so much?
I understand being skeptical of new findings. When I was a kid, a good breakfast was bacon, eggs, toast with butter and jam, and a glass of whole milk. Then they tell us that eggs are too high in cholesterol, bacon is too full of saturated fats, whole milk is too fatty, and butter is clogging our veins. They replace it all in our diets with margarine, skim milk, chicken and turkey and Egg Beaters, yet we still get fatter and fatter, we still die from heart disease like mad. Then we find out it was all pretty much an experiment in trying to curb heart disease deaths, and it failed utterly. Now the protein in bacon and eggs is good again, butter and whole milk are natural so they're good for us. It all seems an utter sham, at our expense. But science, for all it's screw-ups, at least can say when it screwed up. At least they can announce "hey, we were wrong. Sorry about that". So sure, I can see being skeptical of everything they say now. But what about evolution, gravity, germ theory of disease, vaccinations, planetary physics? These are well known, well researched, thoroughly backed up tenets of science that, although they are still debated to some extent, have never been debunked. Why do you refuse to accept them as fact?
Seriously, Yahoo.... Food & Drink? What kind of monkeys do you have programming your category selection process? This was obviously meant to go into Religion and Spirituality, but you don't even offer that as one of my possible choices? Get with it!
Hooray! Some time during the last 24 hours, they moved it to the right category. Way to go programmer monkeys! I knew you could do it.
And yes, I do know that not ALL Christians are against science, and not ALL atheists embrace it, either. But when you have entire state school boards (Kansas for example) pushing to get Creationism put into science classes, it becomes a Christianity vs. Science issue, no matter what many Christians do or do not believe. And when the only place one hears Christians stand up against such things is Yahoo! Answers, then you're not really separating yourself from the herd, are you?
So Andre, are you saying that this "war on science" is really because scientists have expressed doubts about God's existence, and thus proportionately the Christian community has been fighting back by saying "Hey, you don't believe in God? Well then we don't believe in science! Take that!!" ?? Well, I guess I can believe that.

It's not that we fight against science, it is more of our faith. And, yes because humans can be wrong. To us, only God can make anything possible. You listed what about vaccinations? Well, this happens to be something I recently learned in my science class. Once a virus enters your system/blood, it is always there. Regardless of whether the virus is active or not. One vaccination that came out, the HPV vaccination, the inject the virus in your body, so that when you come in contact with it, your body will be immune to it and your body can allow itself to fight it to keep it from becoming active. Well, I know someone who got the vaccination, and tested positive for it a year later. My whole point about this one particular thing is, why inject the virus into someone's body to build it to be immune to it? Regardless of whether your body comes in contact with it or not, the virus will eventually become active and the body will have all the symptoms and signs of that virus....It doesn't make much sense to me! Why have a vaccination that injects the body with the virus for the purpose of immunity when a cure should be found for bodies that are already a host to these viruses? To answer your main question about why Christians are fighting against science...its not fighting, we have a belief system. The word of the bible, of God, is what we follow, or do our best to follow. The knowledge on the subject of science comes from humans. There are so many things that can come together and seem like it makes perfect sense, a perfect equation, but the answer is not right. What about Christians are you saying that we can't admit being wrong to? Whenever I am wrong, I admit it. It might take me a few hours to a day to think about it and all possible solutions, but I do admit when I am wrong. If there are some "Christians" who lie, think they are above everyone, etc., then they are hypocrites. But I try my best not to judge. And also I want to put out, you said the margarine and other stuff turned out to be worse for the body, that is my point here as well, they made a mistake. But if it really was that they were trying to see if it was better, or cure heart disease or whatever it was, that's all they had to say. That's why I don't always believe it.

The fact of the matter, science has some things right but most things they don't have a clue, like global warming, there is no such thing, the fact of the matter is God controls the weather not man, and if the wound have read the bible then they would have seen for themselves,we were not created by a monkey, have you ever heard a monkey speak in complete sentences because God is in control, im just paraphrasing it.

It's not science which is the problem.
Adam: 1. The first man in Hebrew tradition.
2. Unregenerate human nature = Human frailty.
The first man of the Bible who sinned in the Garden of Eden.
Unregenerate: adj: Not regenerated: Not renewed in heart: Remaining or being at enmity with God:
Unrepentant < Sounded a warning of what science could do if it became the mere servant of unregenerate human nature – Roy Lewis & Angus Maude. >

Timothy Chapter 6:
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
In Hinduism: Chapter 10. The Opulence of the Absolute.
Of all creations I am the beginning and the end and also the middle, O Arjuna. Of all sciences I am the spiritual science of the self, and among logicians I am the conclusive truth.

In the past there have been Christian Scientists; Gregor Mendel for example, the father of genetics. Science has been a huge contradiction of religion since Charles Darwin's 1859 theory of evolution. Recent biblical study suggests that dinosaurs co-existed with humans too. Book of Job describes a behemoth with the tail like a cedar tree (all large modern creatures have small tails, making this description fit that of a sauropod.) it's not the subjects of religion and science that are to blame, but some people in those groups, some religions deny dinosaurs existed, while others accept that they existed. But not so much for science now, which nearly all science geeks suggest that we came from nothing and will die into nothing.
It's a huge 'beliefs war' that is not going to end any time soon.

Christians are in the psychological state called "denial".
it is one of the most common psychological disabilities.
The advances of science have blown their religious beliefs out of the water.
They cannot accept any scientific studies, since the silliness of their faith is exposed for all to see.
Their defense mechanism is ***denial***.
The last thing that you'll ever get them to do is to budge off their stubborn intention to pretend that it is still the first century, rather then the 21st.

Most Christians aren't against science, its just the creationists or the extreme far right and for them its because science proves the opposite of what they believe.

Most of them were programmed when still very young and were trained to believe what they were taught in Sunday school or catechism. They really believe that a god wrote a book.
