Advice needed on some questions on an adoption application.?

Update:

I am filling out an application to adopt an older child, but am not quite sure how to a couple of the questions. They are:

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

What are your philosophies in child rearing, discipline, and parenting roles?

Has anybody out there who has adopted before ever had to answer these questions? How did you answer them? PLEASE HELP! Thanks!

Really, only you can answer these questions. If you asked a friend or your sister what your greatest strengths are, what would she say? For me it would be that I have a compassionate heart, common sense, a practical approach to life, and I keep calm in a crisis. My weaknesses are a tendency towards anxiety, and not expressing my feelings as much as I should.

My philosophy of parenting follows the general principles outlined by Foster Kline and Jim Fay in the book Parenting With Love and Logic.

Sorry if this isn't helpful, but this is my answer:

I answered those questions HONESTLY. I can't tell you how to answer because I don't know you. I don't know your strengths and weaknesses. I don't know your philosophies.

Are you a good communicator? Are you disorganized? Do you believe in spanking? Do you feel that male parents have one role and female parents another when it comes to raising children?

Spend a little time thinking on how you feel about these things and then write them down. Answering honestly is your best bet. Social workers are trained to look for inconsistencies between your responses and your actual behaviors. Don't say that you are great at organization and then show up late to appointments and have things lying all over the place in your home.

    See what I mean?
