I agree that love & worship are entirely different things. I do not agree entirely with the definition of love given here as love takes many forms. Love does not only relate to physical desire. I have great love for my mother, even though she is gone now. I have great love for my dad with alz. in a NH & take care of him. I do not love my father as much as I loved my mother - not even close. That difference feels like chemistry. We were never as close as my mom & I were. But each love of those 2 feels as different as the person which mom & dad are totally diff. I then had a very deep love for my youngest son. I also love my eldest son. I had both sons with the same husband. My love for those 2 sons was as different as the boys were different. None of these loves involves physical desire, physical sensations or wishing to grab but those loves were stronger than I ever felt towards my husband & felt more comfortable like they fit like a glove. All are types of love. Pleasure & physical did not play a part at any time with any of these very close inter-familial relationships but I think most of the world would agree that those relationships would be described as love.
Now as for worship. Worship is one of the many problems today as power corrupts. And those that are worshipped by others tend to become too self-involved to be kind to any other living thing. It is a real problem. I can assure you there is no one in my life that I worship & no one worships me. I make sure of such even when I don't mean to. I do not ever wish to have anyone worship me as what must go up must eventually fall & it's a long fall.

Love is the expression of psychological desire: to want, grasp to be wanting i.e., to grab, hold onto. There are many people whom put tremendous effort into turning a word such as love into something divine, something mysterious. Love is not complex. There is physical sensations, pleasures... Out of that is want: to want more of that pleasure. To own that pleasure, reaccess it... To marry it.
Worship is different. Worth comes from utility. What utility does this thing have to me. A footballer like Ronaldo has great utility to a football team, so they are willing to pay him allot of money to be on their team. This worth is due to his flexibility and skill with a football, through which the team gains. Therefore worth is a number of factors that make up a things utility. The religious sense of worship is that the one praying expects to get results (otherwise they would not pray at all). They believe that a God they pray to will provide them what they want.. That is a presumption of great utility, so great worth.. Worship means a state of acknowledging worth. Simples.
Love is desire
Worship is supplication, flattery for the purpose of gaining favour.

By worshiping with awe and reverence, attachment manifest. From attachment emotions become manifest. When that ecstatic emotional intensifies, that is called love.
