Should a Chiropractic Alignment help?
Okay, so I'm hoping all I need is one adjustment and problem solved, so lets see if that sounds reasonable or not?
I am a fairly healthy, 110 lbs 5' 3" female of 20 years old.
I never had back problems before, aside from lower back period pains...
BUT here is what happened.
One weekend, about THREE months ago, I basically just laid in bed too long... I slept in my bed all night Friday night, and then I laid in my bed almost all day reading a book Saturday, and then slept again all night Saturday night... so was in bed for like over 40 hours I guess? (I mean I got up, walked around here and there, sat up part of the time, but still laid in my bed the majority of that time.)
I ended up having extreme lower back pain after that. I was taking an exercise class at my college and I noticed that it helped a lot, stretching my back out. But then the class was over and 3 months later it won't go away. I feel like an old person getting in and out of chairs. I try to stretch my back as often as I think about it, but it's not enough and nothing I do can make the pain go away.
I can tell it is spinal/alignment related because when I'm standing straight up and kick/raise my leg, it hurts my lower back, and I can feel it stretch and hurt when I go in the "downward dog" position, or lean my upper body forward.
Recently it was suggested that I may just need a chiropractic alignment. So considering the nature of my problem, does that sound about right?
BTW, I KNOW that there are a lot of shady chiropractors that tell you that what they do can help cure diseases and other weird claims, but I'm pretty damn sure this is a muscle/skeletal problem which is what they can actually help with. I also know some will try to get me to come back many more times than needed. But assuming I can find the right person, does it sound like this is what I actually NEED? From what I said above? One to a couple visits, with the right person, using the right method?

An adjustment certainly wont hurt, however, chiropractic is not like a pharmaceutical. Chiropractic works with your body to allow your body to heal. Therefore, one adjustment may give you a slight bit of relief but it would more than likely take a few to get your issues cleared up.
Occasionally I get sciatica, it is at times like this when I just know when to take a Motrin to get rid of certain pain. I do not make it a habit of taking pain killers like this but sometimes you just have to in order to get things to settle down a bit. Then when the pain subsides, I work on stretching and strengthening to hope it doesn't happen again. Good Luck!

sounds like pinched nerve in the lower back. The pain is usually felt in the area of pinched nerve but it could radiate down to the extremities, your leg, leaving it weak and sometimes you may also feel numbness. Dont just do any exercises or stretches, some exercise could actually worsen your injury.
Depending on the severity of the injury, symptoms may be experienced longer. sometimes a good rest is all it takes. Alternating hot and cold compress will also improve your condition as it speeds up the healing process and blood circulation; it can also reduce the inflammation.
An xray may done to locate the subluxation or the misalignment. for small injuries it could usually take up to 2 manipulations but if its chronic more sessions will be needed. After that, rehabilitative treatments will be recommended.

There is no such thing as going to a chiropractor ONCE. You will be required to have xrays and then you will be told that your "alignment" is the worst he has seen in a long time. And of course it will take 25 visits to get you right. Just a word to the wise, he will want to start cracking your neck also, don't let him...that's how chiropractic strokes happen.
