It was an accident, and the sheriff has already said there would be no charges. The young man made a tragic mistake in getting out of his car and walking onto the track. He was almost hit by the car in front of Stewart's; all indications are that Stewart did what he could to avoid the collision. It is unfortunate that Mr. Ward paid such a steep price for his mistake. It is also unfortunate that Mr. Stewart will have to pay a price as well.

I don't agree with the death penalty. Anyone who kills someone has done a terrible thing, but state sponsored killing is just as bad. Many of the countries that still allow the death penalty are not necessarily admirable in terms of their human rights and general policies. These are the countries in the world that still permit the death penalty:

    Afghanistan

    Antigua and Barbuda

    Bahamas

    Bahrain

    Bangladesh

    Barbados

    Belarus

    Belize

    Botswana

    Chad

    China (People's Republic)

    Comoros

    Congo (Democratic Republic)

    Cuba

    Dominica

    Egypt

    Equatorial Guinea

    Ethiopia

    Guatemala

    Guinea

    Guyana

    India

    Indonesia

    Iran

    Iraq

    Jamaica

    Japan

    Jordan

    Kuwait

    Lebanon

    Lesotho

    Libya

    Malaysia

    Mongolia

    Nigeria

    North Korea

    Oman

    Pakistan

    Palestinian Authority

    Qatar

    St. Kitts and Nevis

    St. Lucia

    St. Vincent and the Grenadines

    Saudi Arabia

    Singapore

    Somalia

    South Sudan

Kevin Ward Jr. should have stayed in the car and waited for the wrecker. My race car friends have been told that at every briefing. My friend got yelled at because he left a BURNING car before the crews could get to him. The reason you stay with your car is so that you don't get run over, and even if the car does get hit, the roll cage and seat belts will help prevent injury.

So in the blame game Kevin deserves the most blame as he could have easily prevented his own death.

No, never. See in this video. You can clearly see that the guy hit at the last moment with the car ( just near the end of the car). May be Tony Stewart tried enough to move his car, but couldn't do much to save the life of Kevin.

I have read several accounts that he did rev his engine (showing off) which caused his car to fishtail into the guy. That is negligence at the very least from an experienced driver, so he should be charged with manslaughter. None of the other drivers hit the guy out on the track.

    There's too sides

    1. He shouldn't of gotten out of the car.

2.it kinda looked like he tried to hit him.

So it could of been accidental manslaughter.

The death penalty is for capital crimes, meaning a murder occurs during the commision of another crime. For example, killing the clerk during a store robbery....... So, obviously no.

    Death penalty ? you're talking like he's a murderer..

it was an accident.. and besides it's a very dangerous sport .

No. Honestly, it's not like he intentionally did it. It was an accident.
