Why does everyone hate Katy Perry all of a sudden?

Let me preface my comments by saying Katy Perry is one of the few mainstream pop artists I enjoy.

Looking at her songs, they're very popular, and it seemed like with Teenage Dream album, every song ended up being a mainstream hit, it's like each song was just taking their turn to hit it big time. But looking at her actual songs, they're all pretty similar to each other, they all have a similar message. I understand why people don't like Katy Perry. I don't know if pop artists can "sell out" (seems like most of their careers are a sell out from the start), but IMO she did. Prism wasn't an amazing album IMO, it's when the songs started to blend into one song if you listen to the album. I still like it, just not as much. But her Teenage Dream album was good, and pretty diverse. At least as diverse as she is going to get.

I think it's kind of like people got sick of her. Public liked something, got bored of it, and moved to something else. It happens.

I'm not really a huge fan of her music, but I never noticed how much hate she was getting. Justin Bieber I understand because he is a horrible person, but Katy Perry seems very down to Earth and bubbly. I don't know very much about her personal life, but those are just the vibes she gives off. I could be wrong.

I dont hate katy perry. I think she has been incredibly successful and its impressive how many songs off Teenage Dream became hits…… BUUUUUUUUT…. at the same time she is so ridiculously mainstream and un-original. All of her music is manufactured for the radio. Very little creativity. Theres been rumors that she pays radio stations to play her music. She's basically a money making machine not an artist.

I can't say I've ever liked her, but her songs used to at least be super catchy. Don't get me wrong, she's never been what I would call a good artist and I find her whole "girl power" image pretty contrived, but at I will admit that stuff like "Teenage Dream" and "California Girls" were effective earworms. "Roar", "Dark Horse", that stupid alien song with Kanye West, etc. didn't even have that going for them.

I've never met her so I can't evaluate her character, but I don't like her music at all.
