I just wanted to leave a comment about the Michael Brown case in Ferguson, MO. I think this case speaks to race relations in this country.?

It is a case of many, but the biggest matter is this kid was starting college gets killed by the police. The police are supposed to protect us, not kill unarmed teenager for Jay walking. Why was this kid shot 6 times? Why was he shot in the head twice? This isn't what officers are supposed to do. If it was a black officer killing a white teenager for Jay walking I couldn't even imagine a world where this wouldn't get people riled up. This teenager had his life tragically cut short by a person you are supposed to look at as a protector, not a murderer. I don't really care about the race but people can not say this kid wasn't doing anything with his life, or he was a thug. He was going to college for christ sake, just imagine how it would feel as a mother to keep your child in school and out the streets for all these years only for him to be killed less than a week before starting college. This goes for all innocent people killed not just Michael Brown.

I want to start a conversation, if I may. It's not something that many people would want to talk about, but it's an important topic to discuss, in my opinion. If the officer was black and if Brown was white, I'm nearly 100% certain this story wouldn't have spread beyond a local story. But because it was a "white on black" crime, it ended up making national news, just like the Trevon Martin case and others similar cases like it. In both the Trevon Martin case and this case you have the African American community marching and claiming police brutality, civil rights violations and other claims. If the officer was black and Brown white, can you imagine if a large group of white people marched claiming similar charges, can you imagine the backlash that would ensue -- a black man violating the civil rights of a white man. People would be incensed at such an action, but if people went and protest in the Brown case, no one would say a thing. If it's white on black, people go up in arms about both the perceived and actual injustices that there may be. If it was black on white, the only people who would be protesting would be the racist groups like the KKK, the skin heads, Neo Nazi's, and other groups. To me, this case as well as others like it speaks to the race relations in this country. It still has a long way to go in my opinion. Anyone agree or disagree?

This case simply shows how America is fast going back in time. How many kids have been unfairly killed now. This is getting pathetic. A country that can't protect its own future generations, is a country that has no future. People really do doubt America is going to last, you cant have people living in fear of the authorities that are made to protect them.

I would like to add that I cannot condense the Treyvon Martin killing and the Micahel Brown killing into similar categories. Let me tell you something about racism. It spreads. Like grape vines, It is the most contagious disease known to man. It spreads through the media, It spreads though fear and it spreads through ignorance. There is no cure. No one is immune. During the OJay Simpson trial, the disease was at an all time high. Now it is back once again. It spares no one. You have the disease, I have the disease. We all have it.
