Is My Skin-barrier Damaged?

I use to exfoliate my skin daily with an exfoliating soap. I did it for almost 2 years, which worked fine until last year, 2013, in September. It became badly irritated on the areas of both sides of my nose is. It's like red rash's. I never had any problems with my skin before, until last year. Also a few months after I've gotten the rashes, I started to develop mild acne. I went to the Dermatologist 4 times, and none of them ever told me I had a skin disease, such as eczema, dermatitis, ect. They just told me it was acne. But would I would love to know is if I damaged my skin barrier & can I be able to repair it?. Is the rashes the damaged skin?. I brought aveeno barrier repair cream that I'm planning to use. (I don't normally moisturize my skin)

    Hi there!

Acne is natural, but it can be as damaging as eczema, due to the inflammation and irritation that comes with it. Anything can damage the skin barrier, so yeah, I think it's in a rough condition. That being said, it'll heal once the acne clears up though. It'll do so naturally - just don't put too much artificial treatments on your skin, since it will certainly get irritated if you keep it up.

The rashes are a form of skin inflammation brought about by acne. Again, it'll heal over time. Just make sure to wash it and don't put too much chemicals on it.

I don't recommend substances and skin treatments made from artificial substances since there's always a possibility that your skin will get damaged. I highly recommend using manuka honey treatments, like the ones in this link: http://www.manukanatural.com/acne-natural-treatmen...

Don't be too conscious and chill out. It'll be fine :)
