Cessna no longer has the tooling to build the150/152 is one reason it won't happen. However, anyone who wishes to pursue an STC modification for existing aircraft and can afford it can do so.

I don't think they would do that when the C152 is already certified with a more powerful Lycoming engine. It would need substantial re-design to use the Rotax.

The problem with all light aircraft manufacturing in America is the liability legislation and the highly litigious nature of Americans.

If you do anything daring in the USA, like build an airplane, you can bet that an under-employed lawyer will find someone to sue you on a no-win no fee basis, where you will be the only loser.

Why would Cessna want to set themselves up as a bigger target than they already are?

the 152 is a neat little plane, but nobody would buy one at the price cessna would have to charge for a new re-engined version. look at how the 162 worked out.

It's not the engine, it's the liability. They recently tried to introduce the 162 which is very similar. The problem is that the liability insurance costs of manufacturing it drove the price too high. They can't offer it at a price that makes it feasible.
