ive had my PC for years and now all of the sudden it will shut off after 10 minutes. turn it back on, again off in 10 minutes,?

It isn't a overheating problem.
Sounds like a faulty power supply. If you have had the same PSU for some years you are do for a new one.
I am almost 99% sure it is your PSU considering your computer shuts itself off without any type of BSOD (blue screen of death).

For the fact that its turning on and working for 10 minutes might mean you have a overheating problem.
Inadequate coling could be the culprit. Open it up and see if you have fans that are not moving or if you have dust or debri buildup interfering with the air flow.
If you dont want to open the case then download a temperature gauging application that will monitor how hot your CPU is. That might tell you everything right there.

If you have never opened the case and cleaned out the dust, I will bet you that the CPU fan is packked with dust and the CPU is overheating.

Could be lots of things. Use Event Viewer to look at the logs for what was happening just prior to the shutdown.
