I think this is censorship. If you don't agree please enlighten me.?

Recently I answered a question from Daughter in the Politics section. She had asked for a site on ISIS. I sent her the address of the best site I have come across which was a video "The Covert Origins of ISIS".

I was shocked when my answer was deleted by Yahoo, and later my appeal was rejected, too, on grounds of violating Guidelines. I checked the Guidelines and did not notice any violation. By the way, I was also banned from Daughter's site.

Can anyone explain this in supposedly free North America?

This is censorship, obviously. It also doesn't surprise me. You should've seen how many of my questions about candidate Barack Obama were deleted without cause in 2008 and 2009 !!

So what is the website? Is it pro isis or con isis?? Based on that, you'll have a good idea who is blocking your message, and why...

There is no right to free speech on a website. The government can't arrest you or require you to remove content from your own website if it is legal, but a website that is run by somebody else can censor you for any reason they see fit. Free speech protects you from government action and government censorship. It doesn't control private entities. If you work at a newspaper and you write an article that is critical of the management of that newspaper, they can refuse to publish your article and fire you.

The Y!A Terms of Service are so vague that almost any question or, answer could be considered a violation. You have been here long enough that this couldn't possibly be your first violation. If it truly upsets you you need a new hobby. I would suggest smoking pot or, internet porn. Either one is more useful and, productive than Y!A Politics. At least with porn you know when you are finished.

Technically, because ISIS is intolerant and violent against groups of people, they are considered a hate group.

Providing links to a hate group is actually a violation of terms of service you agreed to.

So...you were not censored, you were in violation.

You did not have to agree with Yahoo answers terms of service, and you are free to speak as you chose about Isis, but Yahoo is also free to run their business as they chose.

So you will have to find some other site to join if you want to espouse pro isis propaganda.

ISIS is Islamic, but you can't mention this without incurring the wrath of left wingers.

If it were a Christian group, you could mention Christian all day long, if you wanted. That would be okay with left wingers.

Thanks. I just watched that video. Now I am not big on conspiracy theories, but I was particularly suspicious about how ISIL seems to be the perfect enemy. Totally evil. Worse than Hitler. Worse even than Ian Fleming super villains. Nobody supports them. Not even Al Qaeda. Even I who have been opposing unnecessary wars since Vietnam could not find a reason not to want to destroy them and say "I support Obama in his campaign to destroy ISIL." Yet their sophisticated organization and success indicates that they must have some very clever people in their ranks.

Of course anyone who has read the paper and seen the speeches by Obama and Hillary Clinton, as well as watched the Russian news which condemned them, knew that the US created ISIL indirectly through our Turkish, Saudi and Qatari allies, and that we would have gone to war to overthrow Assad, if Lavrov had not brokered a deal by which Assad, showing great wisdom, gave up his chemical weapon stockpiles.

But I had just watched a speech by McCain in which he proposes that we not only bomb ISIL in Iraq, but extend the war to Syria, not in cooperation with Assad, who has been the only one fighting ISIL and trying re-establishing order, but rather to step up our efforts to arm the Peshmerga, but continue to arm groups that only want his overthrow, compounding the mistake we made by arming ISIL, and making the war against them that much more difficult. Hillary Clinton said much the same thing.

So I guess that unless we change direction and decide to work with Assad, your video is probably spot on. I am somewhat conflicted in this because I have great respect for the Peshmerga and think the Kurds have gotten a raw deal so arming them would not be a bad thing. But it would not be the first time we have double crossed them by asking them to fight for us against Iran, against Iraq, against Syria, and then let the Iranians, the Iraqis, the Syrians and the Turks to chop them to pieces and deny them their dream of a united Kurdistan because of our overriding alliance with Turkey.

Henceforth, I will no longer favor the war on ISIL, because I know it is really just an excuse for war against Assad. I hope it is proven wrong, that the creation of ISIL was a pure miscalculation, and the US defeats ISIL in Iraq and negotiates peace with Assad. Perhaps he can even spare a bit of territory for an independent Kurdistan.

Daughter must be a silly little woman who is infatuated with some guy from ISIS. She is probably with some pro-ISIS guy who whispers sweet love lies into her ears and pays her empty compliments. Trust me to tell you this, there are many as naive as her and there are many ISIS gigolos preying on stupid, naive girls who swallow love lies. Daughter is probably one of them.

If Daughter is a born Muslim or a recent covert to Islam, she should watch this watch this video by a Muslim Scholar who warns Muslimahs against the dangers of Internet, dangers like ISIS guys who recklessly use Muslimahs and dispose of them afterwards.

Here is a below video by a Saudi ex-ISIS. There are few videos at YouTube by ex-ISIS guys who left western countries with illusions and false ideals. When they got to Syria and Iraq, their illusions were shattered: they discovered that they were embroiled in only gang warfares, not their idea of jihad. They were forced to fight against Muslims, who were mostly Sunni natives. They witnessed War crimes by ISIS - like looting goods from Sunni businesses, killing unarmed, innocent civilians and raping Sunni women and children. Their illusions shattered, many Muslim fighters are now defecting ISIS.

We all know yahoo isn't about freedom of expression or speech. yahoo is about corporate bs, if you aren't inline with their thought police agenda they censor you. The people who run yahoo don't want real questions or answers, they want us to be distracted and dumbed down.

Yahoo is a private enterprise and can do what it likes with your posts. You have as much "freedom of speech" on its boards as it sees fit to give you, and it can censor your posts, delete them etc. as it sees fit. Is it censorship? Probably. Is there anything you can do about it? Nope.
