If earth had no atmosphere, would you experience "zero-g" jumping from a plane?
Basically, would you experience the same sensation of weightlessness as astronauts in orbit does?

Yes because of no drag.
When the astronauts are in orbit, they are essentially falling towards the Earth like you jumping out of a plane. But they are also moving parallel to the Earth as well and fast enough to clear the Earth so the whole thing starts over again.
That's orbit.
And it's continuous so the move and fall is always circular.
Astronauts don't feel drag in orbit, so neither will you without atmosphere.
The only difference is that the astronauts will stay in orbit for quite some time.
You on the other hand would only be a red smear on the ground because you would not only be moving pretty damn fast, but no atmosphere to slow you down and you'd hit a LOT harder.

What a wonderful question which poses a particularly confusing answer. Earth has an atmosphere because of her gravity. Gravity is a result of our beautiful planet being so massive and traveling through space at thousands of miles per hour, this causes space time to fold itself around us. On the technical side of the answer, no you would not experience zero gravity jumping from a plane on Earth with no atmosphere. We have an atmosphere as a result of gravity capturing gas particles from space and keeping them here, so we Earth to lose her atmosphere would mean that gravity has ceased on the planet, which means yes, you would experience weightlessness jumping from a plane on Earth without atmosphere.
To get really boring and science I'd like to close with the fact that an object in space creates its own gravity by it's mass, speed and density. The larger, faster and more solid something is the stronger its gravitational force and that's why even light itself can't escape a blackhole, so for our atmosphere to just fall off would mean someone hit the brakes a little too hard or our planet fell apart.

Zero-g does not actually exist, as there is always some level of gravity being applied everywhere in the universe. Astronauts do not experience zero-g. Rather, they are free-falling, which is defined as falling under the sole influence of gravity. Astronauts in orbit, such as those on the Mir Space Station, are constantly falling towards Earth. It is because the Earth itself is moving at thousands of miles per hour that they don't "hit it" like you would hit the ground jumping from an airplane. But given enough time, they will. This is why satellites eventually re-enter and burn up in the Earth's atmosphere.
So, if you could jump from an airplane without an atmosphere to interfere with your fall, then yes, you would experience the same exact free-falling, weightless sensation as an astronaut in orbit, but neither you nor the astronauts would experience Zero-g, which would only be possible in a universe absent of all mass.

If you jump off a cliff or tall building, you will initially experience zero-g. The g forces due to drag will increase proportionally as you approach terminal velocity, however, which is about 160 miles per hour (for a human, not a bowling ball). You should get near to terminal velocity after about 3 seconds.
Terminal velocity is the speed at which friction from the air prevents further acceleration due to gravity.

That's correct - without atmospheric friction, your acceleration toward the ground is unhampered - and, as a result, you 'feel' like you're in zero-G. Just like the guys on the space station - they're constantly falling also.

Yes. In fact you experience zero-g in the first second jumping from a plane now with the air, because you aren't falling fast enough for air drag to start resisting your downward acceleration yet.

Yes with no wind. Of course you have two major problems. One is that parachutes won't work without an atmosphere. The other is that airplanes won't fly without an atmosphere. Happy jumping.

Interesting - you think that no atmosphere means no gravity.
So you must think there is no gravity on the moon, since it has no atmosphere.
Does Mars have a little gravity because it has a little atmosphere...?
