I believe that a god is an entity without limitation. Therefore it would have to be eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and the only god. After all, how can there be multiple beings of infinite ability? In most polytheistic religions, the gods were powerful, but they had limited abilities. Commonly their powers were restricted to a certain thing or element like lightning or the sea. They fought one another and had very human qualities. We can understand the reasons behind what most of them did. But my God, the one and only God, is beyond human understanding. There is so much we don't know about him and don't understand. I believe that the gods from polytheistic religions may actually exist but I don't believe they classify as gods, or at least not God. They might have been aliens or angels or demons or maybe some other spiritual entity, but they are not almighty. That's what I believe anyways, and that's why I say there is one God

Hi, to answer your question lets use the scriptures.

John 17:3 states This means everlasting life,+ their coming to know you,* the only true God,+ and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.+

So Jehovah God in heaven is the only true God! Doesn't mean he is the only God.

For example: At 2 Corinthians 4:4 it says:

among whom the god* of this system of things*+ has blinded the minds* of the unbelievers,+ that the illumination*+ of the glorious good news+ about the Christ,* who is the image+ of God, might not shine through.+

So the scripture says the God of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers. That's god would be Satan.

Exodus 20:3 Jehovah says to the Israelites"You must not have any other gods besides me.*+"

Because the bible teaches that there is only 1 God and non else. People can make up their God, but that's living in a fantasy. The real world , there is one God and he will judge this earth very soon.

Because that is what those people believe.

The meaning is this: there is only one being who is actually a God. Other gods are "false gods", which can mean either of these things:

a - a real being that is worshiped as a god but is not actually a god (e.g. several Pharaohs and Caesars were worshiped as gods)

    b - a fictional being

So: "there is only one God" means "only one being exists that is an actual God".

1 Corinthians 8: 5-6 speaks about there being many "gods" and many "lord", but there is only one True God. That is the Almighty God. 1 Corinthians 8:7 says, nevertheless, there is not this knowledge in all persons.

Because there is ONLY ONE God.

Just because mankind chooses to follow Satan deceit to create 'man-made gods - does not make the man-made gods replace "THE ONE and ONLY GOD" from being "THE ONE and ONLY TRUE GOD"

Just because 2 billion or so of mankind are today calling Jesus god does NOT and will not as a matter of FACT make Jesus become "THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD" as Jesus himself confirmed in John 17:3.

Once a fact is revealed everything else is based on conjectures and delusions - here! See for yourself in plain English what Jesus said in John 17:3 - Now this is eternal life: that they know you, THE ONLY TRUE GOD, and Jesus Christ, whom YOU have SENT.

We used to require many Gods because there was so many things we didn't understand. We had a God of fire, of night, of rain, etc. As we learned more about nature, that requirement was reduced until there was just the one left.

I said their since God is subject to that person and not a place...their being a person and i'm not talking of the place of God.. even if God is a state of mind..

    Belief and faith in Allah

It is worth emphasizing that among human thinkers there exists no difference of opinion on the point that this universe has a self-sustaining First Cause. At the most, materialists call it matter, while the religious philosophers call it Allah. The believers in God maintain that the First Source of the universe has limitless knowledge, wisdom and rationality, because of :

The Qur’an and Acknowledgement of Allah:

It is interesting that in our sacred book, the Holy Qur’an, a large number of whose verses are meant to strengthen the belief in Allah, reliance has invariably been put on scientific arguments.

    Attributes of Allah

All-Knowing and All-wise: This is evidenced by the extra-ordinarily marvelous diversity of life and all that exists on the earth and in the heavens.

Ever-living : Life in the real sense is nothing but a combination of knowledge and power. Allah is All-knowing and All-powerful. Hence He is All-living.

    Divine Unity

Divine unity is the Infrastructure of all religious Teachings. The question of divine unity has supreme importance in Islam. In one way or the other it forms a part of all Islamic tenets and teachings. Islam rejects every kind of polytheism, dualism and trinity. According to it, Allah is one. He has no components and none is like Him. This stage is known as Unity of Being.

    Unity of Attributes

A number of qualities like knowledge, power, eternity and ever-existence are attributed to Allah. They all are the very essence of His Being and are in no way separate from Him. He is a Limitless Being and a limitless being can be nothing but a Reality. All His attributes turn to one attribute, viz. limitlessness. This stage is called Unity of Attributes.

    Unity of Worship

Further, according to the teachings of Islam, only Allah is Adorable. Islam does not allow in any form the worship of anyone or anything else. Neither the sun or the stars nor any human being is adorable, because all things have been created by Him and He has sovereign control over all of them. Hence only He is adorable. This stage is called Unity of Worship.

    Unity of Action

A careful study of all that happens in the world will show that Allah is the Creator and the real source of all power. If we accomplish any job, it is He who provides the necessary power. In view of this, it may be said that all our actions are accomplished with His help. Nobody has power independent of His power. Absolute and independent power pertains only to him. This is called Unity of Actions.

    Man and Freedom of Will

Let us discuss the subject of free will a little further.

We can dearly see that we are not predestined in our actions. We have liberty of action and freedom of will. A simple proof of human volition is that we blame the offenders for their offences. We lodge complaints with the courts against transgressors and ask for their trial and punishment.

It was inevitable as there were many gods it was only a matter of time until one invented a singular source.
