Gluten allergy?

I have been allergic to corn, nuts, eggs, dairy, and wheat my whole life. Could I be allergic to gluten too?

Possibly, but a gluten allergy is, bizarrely, not actually an allergy at all. It's an outdated term for the autoimmune disease celiac disease, given when doctors didn't quite know what it was, only that it involved food and the immune system, so they called it an allergy.

There's a simple blood test panel you can get to see if you have this disease, which is usually easy, but you may have a bit more trouble. You have to eat 2 slices of bread worth of gluten, daily, for 4-6 weeks, for the body to be damaged enough for the test to register the disease (it detects the indicators of the damage). So unless you are eating a lot of barley and rye (obviously you're not eating wheat), that could be a problem.
