How do I clean my new aquarium?

I just got a free used 55g aquarium with filter, heater, hood, and all accessories. I want to kill all bad bacteria that may be in the gravel and filter. I heard vinegar is good but how much to use and how? Also I have some Lime Spots on the glass that go away when I add water but then dries and shows up again, how do I clean that? Thx!!

I wouldn't worry about it any. If it's dry, chances are nothing's in there that you have to worry about anyway. And there's relativly little "bad" bacteria in the filter or gravel. Any bacteria in them is usually considered "good" bacteria.

Grab a dish scrubby or an algae scrubber, get a bucket of clean water, wet the scrubby, scrub off the spot, rinse with clean water, rinse scrubby and repeat until it's clean. Then flush with more clean water.
