Atheists and religious people, what would the opposing side have to do to make you ok with them?

there is some tension between believers and non-believers.

so i ask you what would the opposing side have to do to make you stop arguing?

what would make you happy basically?

Update:

this is a serious question, be nice!

I'm already ok with the opposing side.

I'm just not ok with their beliefs.

Well, some of them who base actions off of their religious beliefs (eg fundies who try and illegalize gay marriage, isis, etc) I'm not ok with. But most I don't really care.

But this is a religion section. Expect opposing viewpoints to be debated here.

I am already okay with anyone who generally doesn't suck. By extension, I have issues with a few people on both sides of the spectrum.

The only thing I request is that people actually take the time to think out arguments that support their viewpoints rather than merely sling insults (many atheists) or quote the very books that are being questioned (many religious folks).

What tension? There is no tension coming from me towards atheists. I am perfectly ok with atheists, they don't have to do anything to suit me...

I may not agree with them but I can agree to disagree. I used to be an atheist, my brothers are atheist, many if my friends are atheists. It's no big deal for me that someone disagrees with my religious view, disagree away, no skin off my worship...

I give everyone respect from the of. It's given freely and remains until they give me a very good reason not to. After all ultimately I am no ones fool! Play nice and I play nice too, slap my face, don't expect me to turn the other cheek. Be prepared to be slapped right back! It's a question of defence not attack be that mentally, spiritually or physically!

    Peace! She said...

We are OK by me. We have our cranks and nuts, both.

Ask a question, get an answer is a pretty simple activity. The creativity used to create opposition by asking a question is remarkable. The idioms and insider language created to convey allegiance to one side or another is worthy of a graduate thesis in anthropology.

It would be nice if Atheists could support their assertions with some supporting evidence rather than go around spamming their hubris.

Unsupported assertion #1: deity does not exist.

Unsupported assertion #2: Atheists don't make any assertions.

Unsupported assertion #3: The Merriam Webster dictionary definition of Atheist is wrong.

All of it is easily dismissed hubris. They think that by spamming it often enough they will fool some people into believing it. Well, they're right. They are the evidence of that.

    Respect and defend the Constitution.

    Nothing more.

(Unfortunately, this question assumes that I am not "ok" with religious people. I'm just great with 99% of the religious people I know. Every girl I've dated has been Christian. My best friend since the 6th grade is Christian. My neighbor is a devout Marionite Christian, and since her son moved across the country, I always help her fix her computer, tv, telephone, etc....and she thanks me by making me home cooked food. And I take no offense when she follows her thank yous with "may God bless you." It's great. I get along very well with good people...regardless of their religion.)

I've got nothing against atheists, but organizations like Freedom From Religion... need to go.

What would make me happy? If those in the "opposition" would just mind their own business, and stop assuming and claiming that to be an American you HAVE to be a Christian.

Thing is, most religious people already do that, but it's the loudly obnoxious and sanctimonious minority of fundamentalists who seem bent on ruining things for everybody.

I don't have a problem with either believers or non believers. Both will see in the end that Jesus dying on the cross took away all sins and there is no hell. One day we will all be in heaven and I'll be the one sitting there elbowing my husband (non believer) going hey, hey and pointing.

Actually I really do not have a problem, we are all products of how we grew up and that is all it comes down to. It shouldn't matter if you believe or not, what matters is if you are a good person, doing kind and thoughtful things or not. What you make of your life whilst here and treat others. The best legacy is one that others admire.

If they would stop acting like their religious beliefs should have any effect on my and other people who want nothing to do with their bullshit's lives, then I really don't care what they do or believe.
