Possibly. Scots were the first big hordes flooding into North America. They were followed by even larger hordes of Scots-Irish, then all Irish and Germanic hordes throughout the 19th century. Only late in the 19th century did other hordes of overpopulating excess people from Europe and Britain flood in along with more Irish.

Plenty of English and some Europeans came all along but the largest hordes after the Scottish ones were Irish and German.

The signers not born in America were Button Gwinnnett (England), Francis Lewis (Wales) and Robert Morris (England). Without researching each man, one could say that all of the signers were either directly from Great Britain or their ancestors were from Great Britain.

Here is the list of signers if you wish to do further research.

So what is your question, it shouldn't be any surprise to realise that what your call Founding father the UK call extremist religious nutters who refused to conform with the majority of people, so generally were those expelled from Britain as religious trouble makers

Most colonists were British. (British people are either English, Scottish, or Welsh). So of course that makes sense. Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Hancock, Adams, etc are all British surnames.

    Hmmn.

They may have been Scottish to start with, but after they signed they were Americans of Scottish descent.

    Or is that "dissent" ?
