What do guys typically wear to Masquerade parties?

So I got invited to a Sweet 16 Masquerade party, but I don't have no clue on what type of clothes to wear. Would a white collar shirt & black vest/tie suffice or does it have to be more formal?

    Wear a cheerleading uniform and a wig. Shave your legs and wear pantyhose, too.
