No electricity at outlet, was working this morning. Breaker not tripped.?
My washer and gas dryer plug into the outlet. There is no current at the outlet according to my alternating current detector. Nothing major or minor has happened since this morning, no earthquakes/fires/tornadoes. Why would current all of a sudden stop to an outlet? I've checked all GFCI's and they are working. No breakers are tripped.

The most common problem is caused in order:
1. A GFI is open.
2. A breaker or fuse is open.
3. A switch is open in the circuit.
4. A bad connection usually in one of the devices.
5. Look for an open neutral. The only way to fix the problem is to locate it with some test tools and then make the repairs. I would start at the outlet in the laundry and take it out of the connection box. Next is to verify that the power in the panel is good on that circuit. Next is tedious by checking every connection box in the circuit. Test tools needed:
1. Plug in circuit tester.
2. Solenoid type tester or analog meter. Avoid inductive testers or digital meters since they give false indications of voltage present.

Most breakers don't flip to the "off" position when tripped, they just move a teensy bit towards off, so you need to push each one towards the "on" position if it moves a little bit. it is tripped.
The other thing could be if there is a bad connection, either at that outlet or some other outlet/junction box between the breaker and that outlet. If the out let is back-wired (the push-in connections) they are notorious for getting loose.

Trip the breaker anyway. If it does not solve the problem you need a new circuit breaker

Have you tried another appliance to eliminate the possibility that it may be your dryer at fault ? Meters can go wrong.
