why did we call things "tubular" in the eighties?

    Tubular is a slang word from the 80s originally used to describe a perfect or excellent wave - one that had a cylindrical or tube-like form. Tubular means awesome or excellent.

    It comes from surfing lingo. A tubular wave was a great wave to surf.
