I got fired?

I worked at a mom and pop sports bar and barely made any money serving there (30 bucks a night at most for a 7 hour shift) and got a second job at Buffalo Wild Wings because they are constantly busy...

Well my first job found out & told me that it is conflict of interest and fired me.

I just needed to make more money...

Is this even legal? Can I sue?

    It is legal but potentially unethical, and you can always sue, but you won't win and will spend plenty on legal fees in the process. Wrongful termination covers things like being fired for race, gender, marital status, religion, etc. Conflict of interest is something that's usually brought up front first (I've signed contracts with conflict of interest clauses for employment), but your current employers may not have thought to mention it since you didn't run your situation past them. The polite thing to do would have been for them to give you a choice between them or the new job, but they sound like cheap, innconside jerks anyway, so do you really want to work there? $30 for 7 hours? Maybe this new place will pay you better and you won't need two jobs. Good luck.

    You would have to look at the laws of your state. I live in Ohio, one of the worst states when it comes to worker's rights, and employment is "at will" meaning either party can terminate employment at any time for any reason.
