Military, Can someone please give me update of the F-35 program?
Media says the US has ordered 2500 of theses things, 2006.....that's 8 years ago, none are actually delivered or in use?
Lockheed the manufacturer, predicts they may complete their 2006 contract by maybe 2050....that's 44 years, won't the plane be way obsolete by then?
What's wrong with the F-22 Raptor, built and online already, 190 planes as of 2014, it delivers but got canceled?

the F35 B is expected to reach Initial Operations Capacity in 2015 with the US Marines
with the F35 A unit reaching IOC in 2016 with the Air Force and
the F 35 C reaching IOC with the Navy in 2018
according to an agreement in Principal in the news Oct 27 43 production aircraft will begin being delivered in 2016 at a reduced cost when it is completed the total in service would be around 200
The LRIP 8 contract procures 29 U.S. aircraft including 19 F-35As, six F-35Bs and four F-35Cs. It also provides for the production of the first two F-35As for Israel, the first four F-35As for Japan along with two F-35As for Norway and two F-35As for Italy. The United Kingdom will receive four F-35Bs. The contract also funds manufacturing-support equipment as well as ancillary mission equipment.

and the US has ordered a total of 2,443 F 35s in the 3 variations and expected final delivery is 2037
