Don't use lemon juice. Citrus can cause photosensitivity and you'll end up with worse problems than acne.

Avoid all fragrances and perfumes in products.

Use a pH balanced cleanser. Your skin pH is slightly acidic (~4.5-5.5) to fight off bacteria. Using a product with a higher pH will allow bacteria to grow.

Avoid irritating ingredients like alcohol (usually labeled as "denat. alcohol", "alcohol" or "SD alcohol" on ingredient lists) or menthol. These dry out your skin and compromise your skin barrier.

Use a good moisturizer, even if you have oily skin. A damaged barrier cannot repair itself.

Scrubs get recommended a lot, but only use ones with jojoba beads or peeling gels. Avoid ones with crushed fruit seeds (like St. Ives): http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/american-a...

Scrubs with jagged edges cause microscopic tears in the skin and allow bacteria to enter.
