are people who identify thems elves as a liberally or conservative aware that they are falling victim to a form of social control?

I live my life making my own way, responsible for my own needs, knowing I am ultimately responsible for my own choices, actions, and reactions.

I do not blindly trust anyone and live petty much like this - “Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.”

I have always helped others who have fallen on hard times - a kind word or helping hand can really make a difference.

But as far as ideologies - I would say I am a conservative leaning towards libertarian. This does not mean I blindly follow or am controlled, not sure why you make that leap in your logic. It just means the way I view the world and live my life fits those ideologies.

I have lived long enough to have a good idea of what has been, what has worked, what has not worked, etc.

It's hard to be aware of things that are not true.

But we are now aware that you believe this.... as well as the definitions of the words "liberal" and "conservative."

Perhaps you should work on that too.

I guess if you REALLY want to get philosophical.... you can move on over to that section and discuss how "the words of our language are constraints on the way all users of that language think." I suppose on some level they are. But personally I don't find such discussions remotely interesting.

No party is perfect but I think Republicans are better out of the two evils. The progressive liberals are so far from reality it's scary. What conservatives think make far more sense to me.

They may not have your best interest at heart but it's part of life and you have to get over it or go live like a hermit :)

You are making erroneous assumptions. I am a conservative and I value my principles. No one does my thinking or acting for me.

I am comfortable with my own understanding of what policies will work and what policies will not work.
