Does chewing peppermint after smoking a cigarette prevent mouth cancer?

When you smoke a peppermint gum helps get rid of the bad taste and hides the smell of your breath from teachers parents etc.

So if it cleans your mouth then does it takeaway the things in cigarettes that cause cancer?

If it does then people can smoke without the risk of cancer if they have peppermint gums after a smoke.

Update:

I only smoke about 10 cigarettes each day and only when I'm with friends and interesting people. I also do lots of exercise. So if I have twenty peppermint gums then I guess it will prevent any cancer?

Only not smoking will minimize your chance for mouth cancer. Gum of any kind has absolutely nothing to do with preventing cancers due to smoking. Either smoke and take the risk or don't smoke to greatly reduce that risk. Don't fool yoursel into believing that simply chewing gum will take away the chances of getting mouth cancer.

Plus, there are several more kinds of cancer that can be caused by smoking (lung cancer, primarily) and gum won't do anything whatsoever for those types of cancer. Just don't smoke. It is that simple. If you do choose to smoke, be aware of the possible complications and risks.

peppermint gum also cleans the odor of eating onions and garlic from your breath, but does nothing for the nutrients you get from those root veggies. So NO, it won't help prevent cancer either of the mouth or the lungs. AND! it does nothing to hide the smell of smoke from your clothing and hair! Just from your breath! You STILL smell like cigarette smoke and are making others sick! (or at least that is what I have been told)

Every cigarette that you smoke increases the risk of oral and lung cancer . There are other life threatening illnesses apart from cancer that you can get throgh smoking such as Emphasemia which is certain death . You sound very young to be smoking anyway , so now you know the risks it is your choice whether you smoke or not .

No. Smoking increases your chances of lung and mouth cancer (as well as lots of other health issues). To my knowledge, this damage can't really be reversed. Your best bet is to try to stop smoking or smoke less.

There's still cancer of the lungs and throat. I guess mouth cancer would not be prevented, either.

You must be kidding. Smoking is the very worst thing you can do and is one of the biggest reasons for lung cancer as well as other cancers. This is the biggest like I have ever heard. Whoever made this statement needs to wake up.

No. That only takes the smell away temporarily. It won't prevent cancer.

No. It might help with breath, but it doesn't magically prevent cancer
