What is the difference between 7/8 and 16/16ths in reference to a door gasket on a wood stove?

    Same size just brand. You can use it. If your stove uses 1in gasket and it needs replacment and you go to the stove shop, they may only have up to 3/4in Long as it gives a snug fit, that will even work but they should have 1in but depending on brand some may say 1in and only be 7/8ths on a tape measure, but it works fine.

    I'm taking You want to know if You can use a door that is 1/8th smaller than the stated size? The answer is Yes go ahead and use it . It should fit properly and once the Asbestos liner is put on it will make everything tight and safe.

    One is 1" and the smaller is 1/8th inch smaller ( unless you have a keystroke error there). Anyway, the correct one will seal the door correctly. A larger one will cause the door not to close and a small one may allow too much air into the firebox causing the wood/pellets to burn too quickly.

    7/8 is 1/8 from being 1.

    16/16 IS 1

    So the difference between them is 1/8.
