Question about the Percy Jackson Series?

So there are two different book series with Percy Jackson in them, but they both come from the same universe and everything. Is the whole thing with the Greek mythology gods similar to Thor in that they aren't really "gods"? Or are they supposed to be closer to an actual god who lives in heaven and created everything? Also, what exactly are the powers of the "gods", can they like resurrect people and stuff or are they just people who live in the sky with superpowers? Thanks!

The stories are based on religious myths. To the cultures in which these myths originated, this is exactly what Gods were (or are, for those of us who still practice Paganism).

To people like the ancient Greeks, Gods were not omnipotent or omniscient. They were superior to humans, but there were many of them who ruled over different aspects of life and nature. This created a 'balance of power' of sorts. But they were (are) considered true Gods, not just 'people in the sky'.

The concept of a single, all-powerful deity who invented everything and can control everything with the blink of an eye, who knows everything at once, etc., is more of a thing that came later out of Abrahamic religions like Judaism and Christianity. This concept would have been foreign to ancient Pagan cultures.
