Help!!! I can't stop hitting my son!!!?

Grounders... I am the coach of my son's little league baseball team. I am new to the sport and just wanted to be apart of his childhood baseball memories. We do drills where the kids spread out across the field and I stand at home plate and hit balls to the kids for them to field. For some reason I can't hit the ball into the air for them to catch it, I always hit it too hard and it goes over their heads, so I can only hit my son and his teammates Grounders. Please help!!
