How do I make an old "dumb" projection TV into a "smarter" TV. Is there an HDMI to RCA (RWY) cable?

It has nothing but RCA inputs and S-Video input

TV Model: Hitachi 60SBX78B V8I004012

I rather not buy a Roku or such.

There are no adapter cables, you would need a full converter. I wouldn't bother though. Converters are expensive and the results aren't very good.

For "Smart TV" type apps, you can still buy something like a Roku to connect to the TV - just make sure it supports the RCA Component Video (not Composite Video) your TV supports for the best possible picture.

Funny answers. The term "Smart" for TV does not refer to picture quality. It refers to functionality to as what computers can do today. Like Wi-Fi connectivity, Streaming, Networking, etc. Not going to happen.

But, if you are trying to connect a digital source with a higher definition output such as a Blu-ray then, you can only use the component connections, it still wont be high resolution since it is not capable of such.
