Can someone off xbox live really take your account and ip address?

I was playing COD and was in the same lobby with the same gamers for two runs and i won both of them, this guy voice messaged me and said "hey pal, if you dont stop killing us then i'll take your account and if you dont believe me check your ip address and we'll compare it" and i just dont understand what that means i left the lobby and said sorry to the guy. what is going on

Getting another players IP Address is simple. If they are experienced hackers then they can cause you problems with just an IP Address but they can't get into your account with it. You've got nothing to worry about. Just change servers and report them.

If you're worried about this sort of thing then look into setting up a VPN to use while you play, then they won't even have your correct IP Address.

I don't know what everyone else is talking about yes people can get your information look at lizard squad they shut down both Xbox 1 and PlayStation 4 on Xmas and not only that your Xbox is a main source for the government to watch in on you just like your smartphone and if you got an American made car with a built in GPS and if you have Facebook app on your phone delete it asap cause when they made the so called changes to make it run better like having to download the messager app that is so the government can watch you with the front facing camera on your phone

Getting your IP address is trivially easy. Saying that knowing your IP means that they'll get your account is BS. Block them/report them.

yea real hackers though and those guys were just full of **** it takes months do do it legit and there would be no purpose the most they can do is hit you offline 30min to an hour
