    Any man should be able to marry any woman as long as they aren't closely related. Anything else isn't a marriage.

    If there are taxation implications, then OBVIOUSLY the government should make those decisions...

    If you want to repeal the Tax Code, then maybe the individuals' opinions would matter...

    But do try to remember you live in a republic..."the people" democratically-elect Representatives, but then those Representatives are REQUIRED to vote on issues as THEY think best, not as their constituents may (or may not) wish! That's why you have no parliament...

    Anyone can "marry", but to be legally recognized, it has to go through the government. The reason is that there are a lot of issues involving spouses in taxes, property ownership, health issues, insurance, etc.

  • If the government - taxpayers - are giving benefits to people, the taxpayers should decide to whom they want to give the benefits.
