    You know two things. David sold 4 times as many towels as Daniel. Make the number of towels David sold X. Make the number of towels Daniel sold Y. Then you know that x=4y.

    You also know that David sold 96 more towels than Daniel. So x=y+96.

    Now take what you know about x from the first formula and substitute it in the second

    4y=y+96.

    Now solve for y.

    It's impossible. Four times more and the difference is 96 units?
