Is it bad manners to buy a baby gift if you are not invited to the shower?

    If the mother is a relation/good friend/workmate, and you want to buy a gift for her/the baby, then there's no reason not to go ahead. Don't link it to the shower, though - it has nothing to do with the shower.

    You give a gift a week or two after the shower or after the baby arrives
