My kitten has a heart murmur?

Got a 5 month old Torbie kitten had her since she was 9 weeks old the lady i bought her from said she had been checked by a vet and is healthy but when i took her for her injections the vet said she had a little heart murmur, then i went back for next lot of injections and she said the heart murmur sounded louder, took her to another vet for a second opinion they said she has a grade 3 heart murmur, they are not sure what is causing it,she is an active kitten seems normal she runs around a lot and eats and drinks well, purrs all the time she seems happy.

The vet recommended seeing a specialist the problem is the money it's very expensive,I want to help the kitten but not sure if insurance will cover the costs?

I am not sure what to do as they said there might not be a cure depending what's causing the heart murmur,i have heard some kittens grow out of heart murmurs.

Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Yes, very often kittens do grow out of heart murmurs. But they can also be a hereditary heart defect. That you will not know. What you need to do at this point is take her back to the vet frequently - they will probably suggest every three months. It needs to be the same vet, so that he/she can see if the murmur is getting worse, staying the same, or if it's going away. If she starts panting, wheezing, or seems listless, that means an immediate trip to the vet. And no, you can't get insurance now as it does not cover preexisting conditions - which this is. I suspect the person you got her from lied about her vet visit :(

My rotty has a heart murmur to Took him to a specialist and they said it was mild since it was mild he doesn't need medicine I have to take him back every six months to see if it got worse so the best thing for you to do is take him to a specialist to see if it's mild or if he has to get medicine and to take every day The specialist was in Charlotte she was really good Apply for a care credit credit card it helped me if it's not that bad they can live for as long as the regular dog or a cat so don't worry just give it as much love as it needs
