Neighbor trouble.?
My mother recently went to the hospital due to a stroke. She has been there for about 5 days and should be getting out soon, but we re not sure when. Her dog has been outside since then because no one is there to let him inside at night and outside during the day. My sister and I check on him everyday and make sure he has food and water and is comfortable, recently we received a note from an officer about him barking at night. We went to the neighbors to inform them of the situation and help calm things down but most everyone said they don t hear the dog bark. After contacting the officer he said it wasn t about the dog barking, he was just concerned that he was left outside when we usually let him in and after letting him know he said he understood. One neighbor however has been complaining non-stop. She is further from us than other neighbors who reported not hearing the dog. I ve explained my moms situation but she refuses to understand. On top of that, the hospital keeps moving here release date back so I have no ETA for her release. What should I do to make this neighbor shut up? She says they may call the police whom I ve already spoke too.

I was too vague, my dog hates other animals. I have a parrot that requires treatment in the morning and the afternoon, my sister has a dog that also requires treatment. A kennel and either of us staying ther is impossible. I understand where she's coming from except she's the furthest neighbor, our closest neighbor says he never barks except barely when someone is walking by. It's clear she's just complaining. I'm stressed enough, I really just want her to understand were doing everything, and she just needs to cope for a bit.

Two choices:
1. Take the dog to a boarding kennel. You and your sister can share the bill and make it a gift to your mom, so she doesn't have to worry about getting in trouble. I'm sure she'd feel better knowing her dog was being looked after anyway.
2. Have someone move into mom's home for a few days to look after the dog.
It's too bad that the one woman won't give you some leeway, but if the dog is disturbing her for several days, that's no fun for her either.

Have the dog boarded until your mother is back at home. As long as he is vaccinated, you will have no problems that way. I personally would have a problem with my neighbors dog being out 24/7 as well. It's truly not fair to the dog or the neighbor.

House sit your mom's place. Keep the dog INSIDE and go over there a couple, few times a day to let him/her out. Or just stay there. Or get rid of the dog. Strays, baby!

Just go let the dog in. If I were you, I'd just stay at my mother's house til she got home.
