Having trouble with my anxiety can anyone help?
I have relatively severe diagnosed general anxiety disorder and panic disorder.
I have tried different medications but I am not currently on any other than medication for my ADHD which has a side effect of anxiety so things are a little worse right now.
I use proper coping strategies-I stay distracted, I eat healthy, I practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing.
I however am struggling with a certain issue: I'm 4000 km away from my hometown for school and my husband is back home. He is driving down to come visit to bring me my vehicle, but it's winter and people are ridiculous and I'm terrified of him getting into an accident and dying. I asked him not to tell me when he's coming down just so I can get some sleep and be functional while he takes the 30 hour drive. But often at night when I'm trying to fall asleep the thought will come to me and it feels like it's happened and I cry for hours and have multiple panic attacks even though it's not logical.
I'm hoping someone can rationalize this for me in some way that will make me feel a little better?
He obviously isn't driving straight through,
I just
It sucks lol.

Thank you for reaching out for help. It sounds like you have been through a lot lately. Anxiety and intrusive thoughts can be scary, but it is possible to stop them. The thoughts that you think dictate the feelings that you feel. If you think negative, scary, or panicky thoughts, your brain releases chemicals that make you feel anxiety and irrational thoughts. If you think positive thoughts, your brain releases chemicals that make you feel happy and calm. To overcome anxiety, you must change your thought patterns.
For the next week, carry around a small notebook and write down every negative or scary thought that you have. This will help you to see how many of your thoughts are negative. The average person thinks a negative thought every two minutes! Then, after writing down the negative or scary thought, immediately write down or say out loud a positive thought. Come up with a list of positive thoughts that you can tell yourself: “I’m OK.” “Today is a good day because I am choosing that it will be.” “I am strong.” “I am beautiful/handsome.” “This too will pass, and I will get through this.”

Sometimes it can help to talk to someone and tell them about what you are going through. Please know that there are people who can and will help you with what you are going through. You may want to consider talking with a counselor at a hotline. There are many hotlines that are 24/7 and will work with you and situations like yours. Some even have email and/or chat if you would prefer. Hopefully, you will continue to reach out!
Sincerely,
AM, Counselor

You cannot control his outcome so just accept in your mind that your gonna worry about him but not too panic unless something happens .. that is all you can do for now and then schedule an app tent with your doctor obviously for meds and therapy
