What can I do to make my husband feel better?
We are going through a difficult time financially and emotionally, and I am 5 months pregnant.
He doesn t know how to deal with his emotions, so I see that stress (lack of funds, family problems because of baby, unexpected expenses, and too much to do) turning him into a very negative and somewhat bitter person and I hate seeing him so unhappy.
How can I make him feel better?
We don t have much money right now so obviously I can t buy him anything, and we have regular sex, I have a job and cook/take care of the house, and I try to be supportive and not naggy (I fail at times, but I try!), and I make him treats all the time. These things don t seem to help.
What is something special I can do to make him feel better?
2 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships5 years agoDoctor "dipstick" test? Similar to home pregnancy test or not?
I went to the doctor's today and she did a "dipstick test" (she got a urine sample and tested it.)
She told me that she would be able to get the results because it could be detected about a week after.
My period is not even due until August 28th, and its been too early for me to test with a home pregnancy test (although I've tried.)
I feel pregnant and have all of the early symptoms of pregnancy.
I'm wondering if the test she did is any different than a home pregnancy test? Would the hormone be detectable in the test she did compared to the test I would do at home?
I'm thinking she could have misunderstood when my period is due and thought I was already late.
4 AnswersPregnancy6 years agoIs this exercise routine okay for pregnancy?
I'm healthy and active before pregnancy. And of course I eat healthy and enough after losing the calories from exercise.
I'm only a few weeks pregnant, not even showing yet.
I do a light jog for a half hour 2x a week,
I do some prenatal yoga 3x/ week
I walk the dogs in the evening, about 8 blocks, 4x/ week
And I do some arm exercises/light and pregnancy appropriate strength training 1-2x/ week.
And only if I feel up to it. I listen to my body and rest when I need to.
Is this okay?
2 AnswersPregnancy6 years agoWhat would cause my period to be like this.?
I'm 21, my period is regular. I have bad cramps the first day, and then I'm fine. I've had my period since I was 12.
I'm 5 feet tall and 113 lbs.
Up until about 8 months ago, my period would be 5-7 days.
For the last 8 months it usually only lasts 2-3 days. It's regular the first day with bad cramps but by the second day I technically wouldn't even need a tampon because it's so light.
I am in good health as far as I know, not pregnant of course and no stds.
The only thing that's changed is I have gone from 128lbs to 113 lbs since January.
Is this normal? What would cause this?
1 AnswerWomen's Health6 years agoMy dog is acting weird?
I have a two year old mixed breed dog (husky, lab, spaniel and golden retriever mix.) she's extremely hyper and high strung and therefore prone to anxiety. I think she has a psychological problem because she compulsively licks, not herself but people and the air if you're associating with her. We have 3 other dogs and they all get along great, are exercised daily, healthy etc.
I've noticed some personality changes in her though. On June 1st I opened up a dog grooming business out of my home. My dogs don't come in contact with the other dogs but obviously hear and smell them (in a completely separate part of the house.) and I have always worked with dogs just not in my home. for the last week-two weeks, she's been quite posessive of toys and bones. Not snappy or anything but when she has a bone or toy she hides for hours on end with it. She also has taken to carrying around a stuffed teddy. She doesn't play with it just keeps it with her which usually it would have been ripped to shreds. She also now hides under our bed, and stays there for hours, and won't come out if we call or coax...but when she is out she's still happy wagging her tail and everything. She's eating, drinking, going to the bathroom, not acting like she's in pain...
Is it because of the other dogs in the house? She's feeling threatened and is coping with her possessiveness?
2 AnswersDogs6 years agoAir quality in home?
I'm 21 years old and I live in a house with my 4 dogs and husband. Neither of us smoke, we are in good physical health, and our furnace filters have been changed on a regular basis, as well as things have been cleaned. We have lived here for a year and a half.
I find that when I am in the house, especially lately, I am overcome by extreme fatigue. I get so tired that I can't think straight, I feel foggy and can hardly get anything done. It doesn't matter how much sleep I get or how long ago I've woken up. I never feel well rested either.
My husband is tired easily as well and falls asleep early.
I find however, that once I open the windows or when I am away from the house and at work, I don't experience this kind of fatigue.
Could there be something wrong with the air quality in our house? how do we fix it, if so?
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs6 years agoshould i be concerned about fertility?
I'm 22 years old, and in good physical health (other than I'm currently dealing with extreme fatigue and tension headaches but that's recent.) my husband and I want to have kids in the next few years.
I'm 5 feet tall, 113lbs. I get my period on a regular basis, the first day is quite bad for cramps and it only lasts for 2-3 days. I have noticed my pms symptoms have changed recently but idk if that matters.
I am not on birth control.
Sorry for TMI, but my husband and I have only used the "pull out method". I have been told it is very possible to end up pregnant from this because of pre *** and whatever else. He also has not pulled out a handful of times in the past.
He has had one other partner and I have had multiple, all protected sex.
Although we aren't trying for kids or anything (we would be ready and financially prepared if it were to happen though), I haven't ever been pregnant or showed signs or anything, despite possible pre *** or not pulling out.
Should I be worried about fertility or is it just "luck" that I haven't gotten pregnant?

5 AnswersDogs6 years agoSole proprietorship vs. partnership?
I'm starting a home based dog grooming business. I'm unsure of whether to just keep it as a sole proprietorship or have my husband listed as a partner? He wouldn't actually be doing anything except maintenance work on equipment but are there any type of tax breaks for him in this? The business is based out of the house we both own (well he owns, but since we are married, you know.)
4 AnswersSmall Business6 years agoWhy am I getting so tired so early?
I'm 21 years old, and in good health. I exercise regularly, I am not overweight, I don't smoke, rarely drink, and have no current health issues that I think could cause this?
I am on vyvanse 40 mg for ADHD.
I am usually quite energetic throughout the day, but once I get home, at around 6 or 7, I'm so exhausted my eyes hurt and I can hardly keep them open. It feels like I've been awake for days.
What could cause this? I usually have a coffee at around 8 am, if I have one at all, I try and limit my sugar, and most of my nutrients come from Ensure (I have a very small appetite due to my medication) or fruits and veggies.
My sleep schedule is kind of off though, I usually go to bed at 12-1 am and wake up at 8 to go to school, and I wake easily during the night so I sleep with ear plugs. The bed I have in my boarding house is extremely uncomfortable so I usually wake up sore. On weekends I sleep in, but today for example I went to bed last night at 2:30 am, and I woke up at noon today (awful, i know, thats unusual for me) and its 7pm and I'm ready for bed. I haven't even done much today.
Is it anything listed above or...?
9 AnswersOther - General Health Care6 years agoShould I use box dye or go to a salon?
My hair is currently a dark blonde, reddish colour. This isn't a very good picture to use as there isn't much of my hair actually in the picture but its the only one I have http://tinypic.com/r/x2o27d/8 .
I want to dye my hair blonde like this http://tinypic.com/r/117b4hj/8 (early Taylor swift lol, and yes I am aware of how pale this will make me look.) but I am unsure if I should go to a salon, or if its possible to do it from the box? Would this be considered color corrective? (I dyed my hair over two months ago with box dye.)
2 AnswersHair6 years agoTrying to place an order from an American website to ship to Canada...taxes and fees question?
I'm trying to order something from a US based website to ship to my door in Canada. The website says this about shipping to Canada "All US order prices are in USD and are subject to custom fees at the Canadian border." I'm trying to avoid having to pay extra money (custom fee??) at the door once the parcel is delivered, other than the flat shipping rate I am already being charged. I have no idea how this works. I'm paying with pay pal and understand the currency conversion, but how do I know if I will have to pay the delivery guy at the door or not? The order is over $120 USD and I think is delivered via UPS?
I once ordered a dress from China to be shipped to my Canadian address and ended up having to pay like $20-$60 extra on top of everything because of customs or something. I don't know how this works. Help?
1 AnswerOther - Politics & Government6 years agoHow many days a week should I work out for it to be effective?
I'm21 and away at school, but upon my return home at the end of the month (Yay, graduation!) I will be thrown back into a very busy lifestyle. I will be returning to my serving job for 40 hours a week, and I also have own and run my own dog grooming business that I will do in the evenings and on weekends and I create home made pet supplies (20-40 hours a week depending.) I'm also married with a house and 4 dogs so I have domestic responsibilities etc.
For the last few months I've been training with a circus performer doing aerial dance/acrobatics and I want to continue on my own once I am home. I'm trying to figure out a way to fit work outs in and how many without feeling too much pressure to do it and giving up because I'm tired. I'm trying to lose weight/tone up/keep progress I've made in training...I would be doing mostly home work outs with weight resistance, running, insanity etc (except for one pole dance/acro dance class a week) Would doing this 3-4 times a week still allow positive change for weightloss and my goals? (Nutrition of course is important as well but thats taken care of.) Does anyone have tips for work outs for busy people?
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoThe world is in distress and it all feels so hopeless?
Everything in the world is such a disaster. Global warming, the oceans that's are completely polluted from garbage, Canada going in to Syria to start a bombing mission, natural resources, droughts, GMOs, ISIS, religion wars, rape culture, oppression, corruption...
I feel like everyone's just gone crazy and people are judgemental, negative, scared, and there's not a lot of compassion for fellow humans or creatures (for the most part.)
I'm at such a loss for what to do about any of this. Obviously I'm only one person, but I get so anxious and stressed out about the state of the world, and the fact that no matter how much good, not much seems to change it.
I have my causes, of course. I try and do my part and make small changes as best I can (volunteer, spread kindness, vegan, give when I can, spread the word/stay informed, create as little garage as possible, and I work with/rehabilitate injured wildlife.) but those are very small things and in the grand scheme of things don't change how things are going.
I'm worried there's going to be a third world war or just...awful awful things are coming.
Is there anything someone can tell me that will make me feel better or some things I can do to help the state of the world? I'm not sure what I'm looking for here but I just want this to stop stressing me out and worrying me so much, because that really doesn't help either.
2 AnswersOther - Social Science6 years agoHome Renovations....Ceiling question?
I m very new at this and I have no idea what I am doing. I m looking into ceilings for our basement, which right now just has the beams and you can see the duct work and stuff. My husband said that we wouldn t be doing a suspended ceiling, but rather would be doing a ceiling where you just staple or stick or somehow put the ceiling tiles directly onto the wood beams. I m trying to price it out and see the options, but I have no idea what kind of ceiling this actually is? Is it a lay in? Is it a drop down? What is it?
Thanks!
3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling6 years agoHaving trouble with my anxiety can anyone help?
I have relatively severe diagnosed general anxiety disorder and panic disorder.
I have tried different medications but I am not currently on any other than medication for my ADHD which has a side effect of anxiety so things are a little worse right now.
I use proper coping strategies-I stay distracted, I eat healthy, I practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing.
I however am struggling with a certain issue: I'm 4000 km away from my hometown for school and my husband is back home. He is driving down to come visit to bring me my vehicle, but it's winter and people are ridiculous and I'm terrified of him getting into an accident and dying. I asked him not to tell me when he's coming down just so I can get some sleep and be functional while he takes the 30 hour drive. But often at night when I'm trying to fall asleep the thought will come to me and it feels like it's happened and I cry for hours and have multiple panic attacks even though it's not logical.
I'm hoping someone can rationalize this for me in some way that will make me feel a little better?
He obviously isn't driving straight through,
I just
It sucks lol.
2 AnswersMental Health6 years agoWhy does natural shampoo and conditioner dry out my hair?
I recently started using natural shampoo and conditioner (organic, no parabens etc). I used to use herbal essence or whatever was available. I wash my hair daily (which I know is bad but I work out a lot and my hair gets greasy easily.) I've been using it for about a week and my hair feels very dry and almost wiry/frizzy. I usually have soft thick hair. I'm just wondering why this is? Thanks!
2 AnswersHair6 years agoAm I expecting too much too soon?
I'm trying to lose weight.
I'm 21, 5 feet tall, and currently 128 lbs.
I have past issues with anorexia and bulimia, which eventually plummeted into binge eating over the past 2 years.
I have received help for the emotional side of things, but I am now trying to get back down to a size I am more comfortable with , but by doing so the healthy way.
My set point weight, before the binge eating started was 101 lbs.
I have joined a YMCA, and I work out 5-6 times a week, doing weight machines, and about 20-40 minutes of moderate cardio on the elliptical or treadmill. I also walk uphill for school etc a total of about 45 minutes a day. One day a week I also have an aerial dance class, which is quite intense for about an hour, so on Mondays I am working out for about 3 hours in total. I do some form of yoga at least once a week.
I eat about 1300-1500 calories a day, all healthy meals. Oatmeal, peanut butter, green veggies, fruits, coconut milk, sometimes tuna. Etc.
I have been doing this for just over 2 weeks...but I haven't seem to have lost anything at all. My body is sore from working out, but I've lost maaybe a pound.
I know I don't drink enough water, but I am on vyvanse medication, I take B12 every morning...
Am i just used to my past habits and seeing results right away or could there possibly be some other issue here?
I don't have hypothyroism and all my levels have been fine. I sleep 6-7 hours a night.
Help?
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoCould this have caused me to throw up?
I woke up with a sore throat on the 27th. No other symptoms, just a sore throat and fatigue. So I pumped myself full of Tylenol cold and sinus, some zinc, and also Advil. Not all at the same time of course, but I've taken the proper dosage and stuff. I've taken two every 4 hours. About 2 hours ago I took two more, and then now that I'm going to bed, I took 2 Advil for my headache, along with 2 zinc tablets. Earlier I also took some weird cold mixture drink (vinegar, lemon juice, honey, water, and cinnamon). I've also had 4 halls, and 14 throat lozenges within the last 14 hours or so.
I started feeling like I needed to throw up within about 15 mins. I took some deep breaths, drank some Gatorade, and it went away, but the feeling came back 5 mins later and I puked three times.
Now that I have, my headache seems to be less, and I just feel better.
Did I take too much medication??
I'm 21, 4 foot 11, and 118 lbs.
I don't feel the need to puke again.
I just want to know if I should be worried about the flu, as there is a new born in the house and if so, I would go get a hotel. (I obv. Stay as far away as I can with the cold as well)
1 AnswerMedicine6 years agoMy husband hates exercise?
My husband is obese.
24, 5'7" and 250lbs.
He's trying his best to change. He is working on the lifestyle change of the nutrition part of it but there is another issue.
He hates exercising. He's not a lazy guy, he's more of a work a holic type, he's in a trade so he's a big handy man. Enjoys working on cars, hunting, building things etc.
but if he has to set time aside to work out he won't do it, not even for a walk.
I'm an active person and I try to push him to come with me when I go for runs but no luck.
He would rather work out at home than go to the gym, he hates running, doesn't like swimming because he's self conscious, hated insanity, doesn't like the elliptical, doesn't like abdominal work, squats, nothing like that.
He likes the outdoors so I'm thinking we could try snow shoeing,
But what other exercises are out there that he might enjoy?
I know that you might say he just has to suck it up and do it, but I think an important part of making a lifestyle change is finding an exercise that suits you and doesn't necessarily make you not want to do it.
Thanks in advance!
