Doctor "dipstick" test? Similar to home pregnancy test or not?

Unless the doctor takes a blood sample from you, they have to use the same urine test you would use at home. A blood test is more accurate, and can detect a pregnancy before a urine test can. But a urine test is instantaneous.

Also, by the time you start feeling early pregnancy symptoms, you would be getting a positive urine test. Pregnancy hormones cause those symptoms, and if they are high enough to affect your body, they are high enough to show up on a test. That's usually around 4-6 weeks along. So I assume that's why your doctor tested you, even if your period wasn't due for a while. Some women do get a light bleed in early pregnancy that they confuse for a period.

At this stage, I would wait until your period is late by a few days and then test again. Good luck!

A pregnancy test at the doctors is the same ! As an at home test... Unless you do a blood test. I'm not sure why it would take so long for a test to come back. Your period isn't due for another nine days. You might feel something but its not pregnancy 😄.. I'm surprised the nurse even indulged in this. With 9 more days left until your period there isn't any hormone !

I have no idea why a doctor's office would perform a urine test if you're not even due for a period for another nine days. It wouldn't be accurate anyway.

You can't have symptoms more than week before your period is even due. You're having symptoms from the post ovulation hormone changes.
